Here are a few of the basic items that you may want on-hand while in survival mode during a winter snow-storm power outage situation. These are very minimal considerations, but they at least should provide a small amount of comfort inside your home, and will hopefully get you thinking about other items to have on hand.

Someone needs to do a study on the undeniable phenomenon in which on come serve inclement weather triggers an insatiable desire for French Toast.
And it just stuck.
If I were stuck in that, I’d be lookin’ for a man with a high body fat content, a sleeping bag and a bottle of Jack Daniels.
See ya in the Spring, LOL!
If it’s snow - no problem. ICE is the real sunnuvabeotch to deal with.
Lived through The Ice Storm of 1976 in Wisconsin. It was brutal. No power for a full week. No phones, and LOTS of downed trees and power lines. Dad fired up the grill and we cleaned out the freezer and ate like Kings, but it was still a little scary. I remember we melted snow so we could flush when we HAD to and as a teen, to go wtihout a PHONE for a week was a living H3LL, LOL!
Obviously it was traumatic as I’ve remembered it for nearly 40 years. ;)
Please add me to your list. Thanks.
You win!
Fixed.
Can't flush a toilet from a glugging gallon jub. Takes a swift pouring action from a bucket to do the job.
Did that for 14 years on a well pump before investing in a big-zzz propane generator.
On another thread they said personal ads were looking for people to share their apartment with and “cuddle” for the days that they were snowed in. If that photo was included.....
Back in the 20s and 30s you didn’t need to run to the store for milk and eggs because a storm was coming.
But you did need to have a supply of hay for the cow and feed for the chickens.
You can do ANYthing with enough electricity
I been through a few in my life the second time the day before I made three gallons of vegetable and two gallons of chili. Add in some fritos, crackers, cheese and peanut butter it was more than enough for two adults and three kids for a week.
Lived outside of Johnsonville during that one. Cant remember for sure, but I believe we were out of power for over a week. 28 miles of high transmission lines went down between the Sheboyan Power plant and West Bend.
French toast = cinnamon and maple syrup. Cinnamon has been used since Egyptian times to treat cough/colds, sore throats and infection; to mitigate effects of a high-fat diet(survival diets) and smooth out blood sugar. Maple syrup boosts the immune system by providing trace minerals (iron, zinc, etc). And being composed of sucrose, it's easy to digest. French toast supercharges the immune system in an irresistibly delicious way.
Based upon incomplete evidence, I’d say that all three (I include the cute dog) are NOT GUILTY.
And can I assume you’ll be throwing the main power breaker to claim that the power outage is elongated?
No! Cinnamon Toast! (Learned this from my old Granny!)
Slather lots of slices of bread with real butter.
Sprinkle liberally with Brown Sugar.
Sprinkle again, with cinnamon.
Toast in the oven (or some other way) until all is toasty and melt-y.
Serve with hot tea, full of sugar and milk (I like Earl Grey, or Constant Comment’s spicy tea.)
(We just learned that we are on late report tomorrow, because of the storm. More Sleep for us :-)
Of Course, you can always add some eggs, and sausage or bacon...........even Cocoa.
Happy Snow Day to all, and
G’Nite!

Very nice.
But, sorry, you can’t hold a candle to Jonathan Goldsmith. He’s one of my heroes, in the acting world :-)
Happy Snowstorm!

You mean the Dos Equis guy? What a hottie!
Whoever decided we needed to name winter storms needs to meet an unusual and painful demise.
Thanks for the ping.
My solution is to wait 20 seconds.
That’s when my Genset kicks in and we’re back to normal.
