I couldn’t do that day in day out. That takes a special person to fly those flights.
I’ve been to all those places except Stonehenge. I only agree with LA. I love Venice and always rent an apartment when I travel there. I’ve never had a bad experience in Paris. I lived in Dubai for 2 years and found lots of places that weren’t malls or slums.
My worst place is a toss up between Midland, Texas and Luanda, Angola. Midland is hot, smelly and flat with undrinkable water and lousy food and nothing to do and filled with bigoted hicks. Angola is the same except the Angolan are pretty nice except the ones working for the government shaking you down for cash at the airport. ROC next door I liked a lot better. Republic of Congo is safer, friendlier and has good food.
The pyramids at Giza were also memorable even though Cairo is a sewer. Back then, for the equivalent of about $5, the "guards" would let you climb the Menkaure pyramid. I'm sure they don't allow it any longer.
Finally, Stonehenge was well worth the time and effort (we cycled there) but, back then, you were free to roam the stones at your leisure.
I lived in the Los Angeles area for years and it is more of a hole today then it was decades ago.
Sharm el Sheikh is a world class spot to start your snorkeling. Most other places will pale in comparison. St John, USVI and the Great Barrier are two others that compare well to Sharm el.
I would agree on the Giza Pyramids. An afternoon would cover them but Luxor was amazing. We had a guide who really was impressive in his knowledge.
We stopped at a small intersection on the way back to our hotel and a boy offered to sell us a relic from his own digging. I asked him if it wasn’t illegal to sell antiquities and he replied, “Not old! Only 500 years!”
Well, good on you, Steve - when were you there?
a scarf on women in church denotes respect. The rest of your comment is clap trap. Tell you what, you travel your way and we’ll travel ours.
We moved here 10 years ago and are RE brokers.
We get a lot of area leads. Man people want to be here and many military com,e back to the sea to live.
We went to the reagan a month ago. Had never been great place. And you’re right the location on top of the hill couldn’t be better.
Absolutely. I have no idea of what you are talking about
Pretty much like Chevy Chase in Vacation.
That's "Monterey", with one 'r'.
Not much.
Loved Amsterdam (and no, I did not partake there, LOL!)
California has the highest poverty rate in the nation. A hundred billion in unfunded liabilities and the 46th ranked k 12 education system down from third in 1970. That’s what liberal control produces.
They’ll be looking like Detroit if it keeps up...
I got the impression that Vegas gets a lot of the “Hip Hop” crowd there.
I went to San Juan this summer. I stayed in Old San Juan at the LaTerraza hotel. It was very convenient for a few days. The hotel is lovely and trendy, but quirky. It is fine for a few days of exploring Old San Juan. If you are staying longer, I would recommend spending part of it at a resort.
Yup. That’s why I hate it here. Any “positives” are overshadowed by the depravity and corruption, in my eyes.
Many years ago when I was a student I had a professor who was from Denmark, just teaching for one year in the US. Before returning to Denmark he and his wife were going to take a trip out West to see the Grand Canyon. I tried to suggest places in California they might like to see and mentioned Solvang as a Danish village. His reaction was “Why would we be interested in seeing that?”
The thing is America has lots of places to visit...For history, St. Augustine or New England, Steamtown and other railroad museums (like Essex Steam Train in CT), Mystic Seaport and Old Sturbridge Village...
I totally agree. We spent three days there while on an Italy tour and loved it.
My gosh... some Americans aredumb...but that is why we have 50% of Americans voting Democrat.
