Unfortunately, you may be right. There was a time when I had no qualms about walking the Strip alone at 2 am. About the only crime along the Strip was the occasional pickpocket or purse snatching. For a lot of years the police had a mandate to keep the Strip safe because of its importance to tourism.

However, since Tupac Shakur was gunned down, it seems that violent crime on the Strip has increased. I blame that increase on Democrats and the influx of unsavory types, particularly illegal aliens and their gangs. Still not Chicago, but....

Downtown Vegas though has always had a reputation for robbery and worse. If you venture downtown, stick close to the casinos, be very aware of your surroundings and don't walk around alone.
