Rape allegations against Cosby case of he said/she she she ... said and 15 women can’t all be lying

Full title: The rape allegations against Bill Cosby are a classic case of he said/she she she she she she she she she she she she she she, she said - and 15 women can’t all be lying

One of my favourite Twitter parody accounts is @TheTweetOfGod .

It's cheeky, irreverent, has over 1.6 million followers - and an unnerving ability to hit the proverbial nail on the head. Last night, it addressed the mounting Bill Cosby scandal with this tweet:

‘The rape allegations against Bill Cosby are a classic case of he said/she she she she she she she she she she she she she she said.’

Ain’t that the truth?

The total number of women who have claimed Cosby drugged and raped them is now 15. (The actress Janice Dickinson being the latest, yesterday.)

Carson, according to the PBS bio documentary I watched, was a very mean drunk. When he went out in public and had a few drinks, it was “Jekyll and Hyde.” As a result, he became more and more reclusive, since his bad rep as a mean drunk was alienating friends and turning off his fans.

Read #82 to understand how celebrities get away with it. We only have to look to the case of Jimmy Savile in the UK to understand the dynamic. Here is the final graf of #82:

One woman recalled Savile sexually assaulting her when she was 16. Even decades later, she told investigators, she remembered it vividly. After he was done, he turned an imperial eye to her. “You won’t talk about this,” he told her. “Nobody will believe you. I’m Jimmy Savile. I can get you.” The girl said she told her mother, but she didn’t believe her. The girl never talked about it again.

Please read #82. It explains how this celebrity-protection racket works better than anything else I’ve read.

Exactly! Cosby went after Janice Dickenson, who does not have the best rep, who does not inspire respect from men and the public. Predators sometimes choose those who are not known to be ‘fine, upstanding members of the community,’ they target the vulnerable, fringe types. How many foster kids get abused?

Exactly correct. His M.O. was to target aspiring actresses drawn to his star-maker potential, who HAD NO FATHERS. He came onto them as the mentor/father figure, an almost impossible to resist combination for somebody who is trying to get their "big break" into Hollywood.

He gained their trust like the "great dad" they were so missing.

Then, he drugged them and raped them.

He is an evil monster, despite his many defenders here, who would have us believe that all of his victims were lying gold-digger sluts who had it coming to them.

I can't imagine much more horrible than winning a fatherless-girl's trust by coming on as a father figure, then drugging and raping them.

Cosby's defenders who call the girls sluts who deserved it, can go to hell. And they probably will, if that's where there moral compass steers them.

I just read the Johnny Carson biography by his lawyer-associate Henry Buskin (a Jewish kid) Johnny could be good, very good, very nice but had his nasty side for sure and the book has anecdotes on this

You can read it very quickly. Its a good timepiece for that Hollywood era. Johnny was a mega womanizer. Bob Hope is also mentioned to be one. But no date rape drugs used (lol) They did it the old fashioned way...but no rape either just women throwing themselves at them.

And Cosby could have also “benefited” from women freely throwing themselves at him, except:

By his 40s, it would have damaged his salable image, because his pickups would be public.

He would not have gotten the fresh-faced aspiring-model types he developed a taste for at the Playboy mansion.

And he might literally have preferred to rape unconscious women. In his mind, he might even have thought he was “sparing” them the horror of forced rape. In his mind, he might have been doing them a favor by slipping them K.O. pills.

Some shrinks should come forth with what they think is going on in the mind of a dude who prefers sex/rape with drugged women. IOW a non responsive sex partner. I am sure the shrinks will have a theory

Keith Ablow should. He is the psychiatrist on Fox News

Make no mistake. Rape is a heinous crime and if I had my way, rapists would be strung up by their private parts. But I'm a bit sensitive to false allegations of rape.

A good friend of mine was accused of rape. Turned out the charges were bogus — made by a woman mad that he terminated their relationship. But the damage was done. He was suspended from his job without pay for several months, and while he returned to work after the charges were dismissed, he did not receive back pay. Attorneys fees plus the lost wages put him in a severe financial bind for a few years afterwards. Also, his relationship with family, friends and co-workers changed. Even though he had been exonerated, there was still suspicion and fear. He passed away a little over a year ago and I'm convinced the stress from the incident shortened his life.

Sure, maybe some of the stories about Cosby could be true. But we also should consider the possibility that at least some of them are not. Regret over a consensual relationship? Vindictiveness? Boredom? Publicity seeking? Broke and looking for a payout? Plenty of other reasons for these allegations to come out now. I expect any physical evidence is long gone, so how will these charges be proven? It's not fair that these allegations may never go to trial, but the suspicions will continue to dog Cosby. I'm sure he's made good money over the years and probably doesn't have to work, but these unproven charges will cost him a great deal in lost revenue and reputation.

How many young girls were involved in the Salem witch trials?

Four, if I remember correctly. Of course, these were small towns and no internet. Take that mentality, put it in Los Angeles or New York City and splash it all over the net, and you could find 15-20 women of this sort.

I'm not saying for sure that I don't believe them, but ... I'm a little suspicious. Cosby has been very outspoken over the last few years, and there may be those who have decided it's time to destroy his reputation Clarence Thomas style.

“Cosby’s defenders who call the girls sluts who deserved it, can go to hell. And they probably will, if that’s where there moral compass steers them.”

Amen and amen!

I cannot believe that there are FReepers here who refuse to believe that Cosby is evil, along with the FACT that some here think it’s just one big liberal frame-up! This has not one thing to do with politics! The man has surely always been rotten and I am certain that the thing is, he has not been known to have personally inspired anyone from the ghetto to better themselves.

“By their fruits you will know them....”

Are you kidding? These women can get book deals, paid interviews, and so on. There is still money to be made.

2 more out of the woodwork. Just makes me raise an eyebrow. Is Cosby guilty? Don’t know.

I do have a q for you. If a video of him doing the alledged deed with a single woman came out, would you still not believe the rest of them?

The DA has no evidence. Otherwise he would HAVE BROUGHT A CASE.

HE DIDN’T.

So the corrupt DA needs to shut up.

Thank you for posting this. The same kinds of policies are being adopted at Universities all over the country, and I’m glad to see that as prestigious a group as scholars at Harvard Law are trying to do something about it.

I’m not a scholar, and Dr. Dershowitz is the only person among the signees whose name I recognize. He has always been the sort of ‘old-school’, thoughtful liberal that I respect, even when I disagree. (Some others who come to mind are Nat Hentoff, and Pat Caddell - these are men of integrity.)

A lot of people on this thread seem to be simply arguing the guilt or innocence of Cosby; but what’s at stake is a principle, the undermining of which puts all of us in danger. In your words, there are people who are seeking to “undermine the entire system of law in this country.”

Thank you again for alerting me to this statement from the Harvard professors.

You are incorrectly depicting the relationships that these women report having with Cosby.

Most of them have reported a dating relationship with Cosby

Most of them have described on/off relationships lasted at lasted multiple years.

Most of them have admitted taking money from Cosby for room and acting lessons during this period.

Most of them have reported being picked up by a limo Cosby sent for them; and then going to watch his shows; and then meeting up with him afterwards for dinner and drinks; repeatedly.

This is NOT a ‘father/daughter’ type of relationship.

This is more of a sugar daddy/gold digger type of relationship.

We do not know if he ‘drugged’ any of them. None of them reported the alleged assault at a time when such a claim could be verified by evidence.

We do not know if he ‘raped’ any of them.

To call Cosby an ‘evil monster’ is premature. The facts are not present to support such a claim.

We have a rule of law in this country.

Each of the cases needs to be reviewed on it’s own merits.

For the cases that I have reviewed, based on the newspaper accounts of the women’s testimony, the women’s testimony does not appear to be very credible.

This has all of the appearances of a massive revenge attack by jilted former girlfriends.

To build a case of ‘rape’, the person needs to report the crime at the time it occurred.

Making a belated claim 30-45 years after an alleged event occurred is simply ridiculous.

“meeting up with him afterwards for dinner and drinks; repeatedly.”

And Cosby was a married man. That doesn’t mean that he couldn’t have been guilty of rape; but it suggests that the women who blithely ‘dated’ him lacked a certain amount of integrity themselves. Maybe they were just young, stupid, vulnerable, etc. - but the situation still requires a certain amount of personal responsibility on the part of the woman.

(A lady doesn’t go to a married man’s hotel room, alone with him, for a drink...and what does a man usually think, when she does?).

I think this is what the Clinton supporters said when President Clinton was accused of sexually assaulting Juanita Broaddrick and Kathleen Willey, not to mention others. Its sad to see the blame the victim mentality on FR.
