I have spent a little time compiling links to threads about the Ebola outbreak in the interest of having all the links in one thread for future reference.
Please add links to new threads and articles of interest as the situation develops.
Thank You all for you participation.
I notice there is no news of how the patient who flew to Cleveland is doing. Amber Vinson? I even googled for info and the only news out is the condition of Pham. What’s up with that? Was she worse off than described when admitted or something?
Ebola in the Big Apple? CDC tells NYC to get ready
http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/ebola-in-the-big-apple-cdc-tells-nyc-to-get-ready/article/2554882
Federal health officials are focusing their attention on New York as a key potential Ebola point of entry, with a new report warning: Ongoing transmission of Ebolavirus in West Africa could result in an infected person arriving in NYC.
The report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention noted that New York is key entry point for those coming in from West Africa, but apparently so far Ebola free.

My only source so far is as a ‘radio listener’. But from the information gathered, it looks as though the initial operation in Africa [so far] is the most poorly planned of the Century.
I had wanted to be supportive of such a vital and dangerous mission, but the way they were just thrown out there, it’s scandalous. [Details coming up.]
Troops in Africa Worst military plan of the century.
[My own estimation as radio listener and military history enthusiast.]
Congressman Gomert on Glenn Beck Thursday said that our troops out in Africa are UNARMED. A member of Hannitys team later provided more disturbing first-hand information. They are quartered in apartments, and eating at DINERS.
o o o o
What I gather from this information:
This indicates that the planning of this operation was poorly planned.
A single poacher in Africa could have a field day with our men, shooting them one-by-one at leisure until grappled down.
Their living quarters are completely unacceptable. Without a proper camp, they are vulnerable to malaria as well as other local diseases.
As the Hannity team member pointed out, the food grown in these areas is fertilized with human dung. This is not only an ebola hazard, but also a danger of countless diseases.
Casual contact with potential ebola patients is ridiculously high in this situation.
Congressman Gomert added somberly that the only thing these forces are armed with is surgical gloves and surgical masks.
This is the most poorly planned military operation of the century, perhaps the worst in US history. They are scrambling to rush supplies after-the-fact. If it was actually the result of a Pentagon contingency plan, high ranking officers should be demoted to private as a result. It is now too late to fix it. The damage is done, and the best thing we can do now is send them weapons [with ammo must be specific these days], RATIONS, serious protective gear, basic equipment, and most importantly prayers are needed for these heroes. I doubt being a pioneering astronaut is any more terrifying than what these troops are experiencing.
[I admit that my reporting as a talk-radio listener is imperfect, but I tried to be careful about the facts.]

Waste From Ebola Poses Challenge to Hospitals(snip)
When they are highly contagious, disposing of the waste and cleaning up what is left behind require expertise and equipment that some specialists said are lacking even in highly regarded medical facilities.
Those shortcomings are compounded, they said, by surprising gaps in scientists knowledge about the Ebola virus itself, down to the time it can survive in different environments outside the body.
(snip)
That is not the only unresolved question. The recommendations from C.D.C. on what to do and not to do are based on relatively sparse science, Dr. Roepe said. I can only find two that address the simple question of how long the virus persists outside the human body.
The number youll hear from most people is from a few days up to a week, he said. But the context in which the virus is found outside the body matters a great deal. How long can it last on a doorknob? We dont have a lot of raw data, believe it or not.

Canada Shipping Experimental Ebola Vaccine to Curb OutbreakSam_Frizell, 12:38 PM ET
The vaccine is being tested on humans, Canadian authorities say
Canada will begin shipping an experimental Ebola vaccine to the World Health Organization in Geneva on Monday, the government announced Saturday, with the hope of addressing the current outbreak of the deadly virus.
The effects of the vaccine in animals have been promising, Canadian authorities said. The vaccine is just beginning to be tested on human subjects in order to determine the safety of the vaccine and the dosage required to stimulate a persons immune system into producing the proper antibodies.
Canada is sending 800 vials of experimental Ebola vaccine contained at -80 degrees celsius in three separate shipments via aircraft to the WHO in Geneva. Canadas Public Health Agency is supplying it to the WHO so it can be used as an international resource.
This vaccine, the product of many years of scientific research and innovation, could be an important tool in curbing the outbreak, said Dr. Gregory Taylor, Chief Public Health Officer of Canada.
I hope that Ebola is conducive to vaccination but there’s no guarantee. How many decades have we been trying to create a vaccine for HIV?
That said, fingers crossed.
