I have spent a little time compiling links to threads about the Ebola outbreak in the interest of having all the links in one thread for future reference.
Please add links to new threads and articles of interest as the situation develops.
Thank You all for you participation.
Wow.
I just went to MSF’s site to see what their latest releases have to say about W. Africa. They’ve scrubbed all the “news” links and stories from their site! No press releases, no op-eds, nothing.
I can get to stuff using a search engine and searching their site that way but nothing at all from msf.org’s links.
Doing a search using “ebola” brings up only old outbreak links.
What is that about?
The increased lag time between the last few WHO-Africa sit-reps was a fairly clear indicator that things had gone to hell. The case count of the last two sit-reps indicated to me that in Liberia the tipping point had been reached. Deliver delays of critical medical supplies due to corruption signals the impeding collapse of the already marginal if not inadequate infrastructure. Scouters projections may be reached sooner than calculations indicated.
If travel restrictions are not impleted immediately ( who am I kidding ) those that have the means will abandon the country, fleeing by whatever means possible. Borders will be overrun with refugee clusters will create new hot zones that will propagate the dispersal of these sad human time bombs and further spread....
WHO/CDC has been reduced to advocating DIY in these areas. What does that tell you?
Short form - US Troops in Liberia are going to be fine.
They have their own independent Nuclear Chemical and Biological warfare experts from the US Army Chemical Corps embedded in the task force and they are using BHL-4 military NBC gear in handling any blood products.
The presence of the NBC experts also points to the likely top secret deployment of M-17 decontamination units with the task force as well. The practical experience gained by these NBC troops will be G-d Send during further outbreaks here in America.
If U.S. troops get Ebola in Africa, theyll get treatment in the U.S.

If U.S. troops in Africa get the Ebola virus, they will be taken to the United States on a specially designed plane and get treatment there, said the top U.S. general overseeing operations in Africa.
The force of up to 4,000 service members will be based in several countries in western Africa, including Liberia, the heart of the ongoing Ebola crisis that has killed more than 3,400 people worldwide, according to the World Health Organization. They will be monitored several times per day and where a variety of protective equipment, depending on what jobs they have, said Gen. David Rodriguez, the chief of U.S. Africa Command.
Stopping the spread of this disease is the core mission here, Rodriguez told reporters at the Pentagon on Tuesday.
Rodriguez said that a small number of those service members will run testing laboratories and will wear a full biological protective suit that will bring them into contact with individuals who could have Ebola. The U.S. military already has deployed three of the laboratories, each manned by a few people, and has been asked to send a few more.
He later reversed course, saying in statement distributed through the Pentagon that no U.S. military personnel will be treating Ebola patients directly in Africa. The individuals working at the mobile laboratories will work with samples, not people, he said.
The rest of the U.S. troops deployed will be equipped with lighter protective equipment for the mission, including gloves and masks, but will not come into contact with the general population at the greatest risk of contracting the disease. Rather, theyll remain in locations like airfields, assisting with the logistical effort required to help doctors and other health workers on the ground.
They dont need the whole suit as such, because theyre not going to be in any contact with the people, Rodriguez said of most troops who will deploy.
One role for the military is in building 17 treatment centers for those who get the disease. The effort will likely take until mid-November, Rodriguez said.
We will probably continue to improve the speed with which we build them. Because after you get one done, the second set goes faster, the general said. But thats the estimate right now, to get all of the 17 done.
The Pentagon said last week that a force of up to 4,000 troops could deploy for the mission, mostly from the Army. Rodriguez said he thinks that will provide sufficient capacity to carry out their mission in support of the humanitarian response. A headquarters unit from the 101st Airborne Division, of Fort Campbell, Ky., is expected to deploy in the next few weeks for Monrovia, Liberias capital, under the command of Maj. Gen. Gary Volesky.
If U.S. troops get Ebola, they will receive treatment similar to U.S. aid workers who have contracted the virus, Rodriguez said. In those cases, they crossed the Atlantic in an aircraft that segregated them from other fliers, and received medical care in a U.S. hospital.
UPDATE, 4:20 p.m.: This post was updated to reflect Rodriguezs clarifying remarks, released Tuesday afternoon by the Pentagon.

Ebola, Electronic Medical Records and Epic Systems
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3212648/posts
A Dallas hospital’s bizarre bungle of the first U.S. case of Ebola leaves me wondering: Is someone covering up for a crony billionaire Obama donor and her controversy-plagued, taxpayer-subsidized electronic medical records company? Last week, Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital revealed in a statement that a procedural flaw in its online health records system led to potentially deadly miscommunication between nurses and doctors. [snip]
MSF has done this at the tail end of past EVD outbreaks.
Too weird. I can get their latest by opening Bing, searching “ebola site: msf.org” but cannot access that same page directly from msf.org.
Then why can I access the Uganda outbreak material but not the current outbreak material?
Does MSF think we’re at the tail end of this one? I surely hope not.
Send shivers down my spine. Shades of Die Bien Phu.
Regarding Dallas County Judge Jenkins [Not Ebola Risk]
Ends up in observation for taking foolish risks. That leftist nutbar judge thought he was so freaking smarter than us fear-mongers, ends up bogging down the system [at great risk to self] with his stupidity.
Now he needs to wear a condom for 90 days. Should wear the full-body kind, and a straight jacket.
Would you back check me? Go to msf.org and use the keyword search box at top right to search for Ebola. Then hover over the red “News” link on their homepage and click the sublinks. What do you come up with?
Huh... Could be MSF is preparing to pull out. They mentioned the possibilty in previous warnings. Whether such a withdrawal is a retreat, recover, and re-assess action, who knows.
Yes, but what does that have to do with MSF deleting links to their articles/announcements/etc. on its website?
The increased lag time between the last few WHO-Africa sit-reps was a fairly clear indicator that things had gone to hell.
I've been thinking the same thing.
