To the list of bygone New York City pleasures, add one more slice of life the sausage pizza.

Yes, but it was actually Sandusky who was playing hide the sausage.
Anyone in IT remembers the OSI model with the mnemonic... Please Don’t Throw Away The Sausage Pizza, layer 1 up.
Yes, I hate that sausage. And I like the spicy kind, not the bland kind that tastes like hamburger.
I don’t think the calorie and fat differences would be very much between sausage and pepperoni.
When I was about 12 my folks took me to NYC for the first time.We were in a restaurant in Manhattan (can’t recall the name) and I ordered clam chowder.Well, placed before me was a disgusting thin liquid with chunks of tomato in it.”Manhattan clam chowder” I was told.My first experience with NYC’s stupidity when it comes to gastronomy.
What you said!!!
....I make and enjoy both btw....
If it’s not white, it’s not clam chowder.
and also, a New York Style pizza with all the trimmings or even just plain cheese is the best pizza in the world.....its the crust....
Its just the economy... It costs a lot of money to put sausage on a pizza- you got to prepare the sausage in advance and anything good is pricey these days
This article seems to attribute some kind of cause beyond that...
Right now my wife is making mini pizzas in a muffin pan using layers of pepperoni to make little bowls for the crust.
Ultra low carb ftw!

Green chili is a popular topping on pizza here in New Mexico.
You know what I like? A nice bacon and onion pizza, yum, yum, yum.
Of, if we are going vegetarian, which is fun to do sometimes, mushrooms, peppers and onions.
Thank goodness I still live in NJ where we can still get good pizza and bagels.
My daughter is in MD and for all its rep as a foodie area takeout is just fugaze, that is to say, just forgetaboutit.
Having NE Clam Chowder at one of those places is like having the hots for a nice new car and then buying a Yugo!
To borrow an illustration, buying quality is like buying oats. If you want clean bright fresh oats you should be prepared to pay a commensurate price. If you can be satisfied with oats that have already been through a horse; the price will be somewhat lower.
Good grief, sausage is a classic pie. Complete maniacs.
Freegards
Italian salami, mushroom, and onion, with whole milk mozzarella. My husband makes his own crust and his pizza is the best ever!
People don't like sausage pizza? Communists.
