Anonymous hacks US Sentencing Commission, distributes files

Hacktivist group Anonymous took control of the U.S. Sentencing Commission website Friday, January 25 in a new campaign called "Operation Last Resort."

The first attack on the website was early Friday morning. The second - successful - attack came around 9pm PST that evening. anonymous

By 3am PST ussc.gov was down (it has since been dropped from the DNS), yet as of this writing the IP address (66.153.19.162) still returns the defaced site's contents.

It appears that via the U.S. government website, Anonymous had distributed encrypted government files and left a statement on the website that de-encryption keys would be publicly released (thus releasing the as-yet unkonwn information held on the stolen files) if the U.S. government did not comply with Anonymous' ultimatum demands for legal reform.

Anonymous has not specified exactly what files they have obtained. The various files were named after Supreme Court judges.

I agree. Since they’re so good at getting the goods, why haven’t they bothered to dig up the information that everyone would like to see, such as Hussein’s school records, etc? Here is this man, practically a mystery as to his earlier life, leader of the “free world”, and they’re not interested?

There is no Anon. Hack. Its the goobernment itself, so that we all clamor for internet control and registered IP address. If all for the children! Think of the lives save. “The Rights Of A Few Have To Be Limited For The Safety Of Others!”

I don’t think they particularly care about that. Anonymous is a radical leftist group, so having a stealth Muslim Marxist take over the US certainly isn’t going to bother them.

They have written the usual long screed that these groups write. Apparently they’re upset about Aaron Swarz, the hacker who killed himself a couple of weeks ago rather than face prosecution for downloading JSTOR files. I agree that the law is rather draconian and is written solely to protect copyright holders, not necessarily the authors or producers of the work, but the people who bought up the copyrights.

JSTOR is a particular fraud that doesn’t deserve anything; they charge $25 to take a peek at things from academic journals, peoples’ dissertations, etc. In other words, things for which the producer received little or no compensation, but which they are exploiting ridiculously.

JSTOR is “free” to registered users of academic libraries, in that they don’t pay for each article; but they do pay through their fees, which range into the hundreds of dollars.

However, this attack on the US Supreme Court makes no sense and I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s actually being motivated by Obama or his minions, since Friday’s court decision finding his recess appointments unconstitutional will surely be appealed to the Supreme Court and Obama wants to make sure he has complete power over the Court.

Probably the only thing the zero has done right is collect dirt on all everyone in DC. No doubt partially the beneficiary of Clinton’s secret files.

The WH may have people who can control the GOP and the other old farts in D.C., but they will be hard pressed to control the minds of determined wiz kids, MIT,social media gurus. I have been waiting for this.....WH has crossed the line, some people are serious about freedom.

An open government is an honest government...and ours is closed up so tight it’s like trying to get a dollar from a liberal.

You mean... An open government is an honest government...and ours is closed up so tight it’s like trying to get a liberal to spend their OWN dollar.
