Top Ten Most Overrated Actors/Actresses of All Time
big hollywood ^

Posted on 11/20/2011 8:47:17 AM PST by Perdogg

It’s been almost two years since I posted at Big Hollywood regarding the Top 10 Most Overrated Directors of All Time. I’ve had a chance to reflect and think about the crimes I committed in that post. And, to paraphrase Mr. Eko from the greatest TV show of all time, “Lost,” I ask no forgiveness because I have committed no sin … except leaving Spike Lee and Tim Burton off the list, that is.

So, because you all enjoyed that list so much, and because I apparently have a death wish, it’s time for another: The Top 10 Most Overrated Actors/Actresses of All Time

(Excerpt) Read more at bighollywood.breitbart.com ...

That’s the one when he’s escorting a Navy prisoner? Randy Quaid? Haven’t seen it in years. And hey, Jack Nicholson’s Joker was hilarious.

Harry Dean Stanton is another one of those odd types.

Big What About Bob fan here and Dreyfus’s straight man to Bill Murray’s funny man was perfect.

Oh man, I forgot all about that movie. Very funny movie, and you are right--perfect casting.

I would distinguish actors from movie stars. Clooney and Cruse are movie stars.

And ironically he played ‘out of character’ - and did well I will admit.

>>Please do not think me flip FD, but have you seen most of her films?<<

With g/fs and the like yes back when (now I am married and the wife is no big fan of Streep so it isn’t an issue) — each time streep is on camera I wince. Several of her movies I just couldn’t make it through (Bridges of Madison County and French Lt. Woman). Slikwood, Out of Africa and the rest speak for themselves.

I sort of “liked” The Devil Wears Prada because that is the only kind of part she is good for (and how she plays all her parts) — way over the top.

She was great in A.I.

I thought she was great in “Barfly” with Mickey Rourke. OTOH, “Bonnie and Clyde” was vastly over-rated in terms of script and acting.

I agree with the number one worst pick: Jack Nicholson. He pretty much plays the same character in every film: Jack Nicholson.

I would add Julie Roberts.

Add Elizabeth Taylor too. Never saw her do anything that much better actresses couldn't have accomplished in their sleep.

IMHO, Katherine Hepburn was terrific in “The Lion in Winter”. It’s one of my favorite movies. I never had much interest in her other roles.

This guy wanted to be controversial — but I don’t think he has a death wish ;)

When he started taking himself seriously ("Philadelphia") I lost interest and never really understood the fascination with him.

Loved him in Apollo 13.

Tom Cruise

Totally agree. I also second (or twenty-third or whatever it is at this point) Jennifer Aniston. She is exactly the same in every single movie she's in.

As much as Gwenyth Paltrow annoys me, she at least TRIES to be a distinct character depending on the script.

Well, that’s kind of what “overrated” sort of requires beforehand. Can’t be overrated if it doesn’t rate high :P
