Its been almost two years since I posted at Big Hollywood regarding the Top 10 Most Overrated Directors of All Time. Ive had a chance to reflect and think about the crimes I committed in that post. And, to paraphrase Mr. Eko from the greatest TV show of all time, Lost, I ask no forgiveness because I have committed no sin except leaving Spike Lee and Tim Burton off the list, that is.
So, because you all enjoyed that list so much, and because I apparently have a death wish, its time for another: The Top 10 Most Overrated Actors/Actresses of All Time

>>Why are there nine men and only one woman? Just because the author is a guy?<<
Which one didn’t you count: Steep or Hepburn?
Hi, Perdogg and company:
Can’t find much that’s wrong with Breitbart’s list.
Never understood the popularity of DiCaprio, Clooney, Bill Murray, Tom Hanks or Meryl Streep.
Hoffman peaked ages ago. Hasn’t aged well and his last flick that I thought he was great in was ‘Straight Time’, back in 1978.
Nicholson hit his zenith with ‘A Few Good Men’ and hasn’t done anything memorable and going downhill ever since. He’ll always be Wilbur Force, the masochistic dental patient from Corman’s original, ‘The Little Shop of Horrors’ to me.
Am also sick of Hollywood trying craft to sell One Trick Pony, Anne Hathaway as their next Streep, When she obviously isn’t.
Jack.
You’re right. But Cooper didn’t need to act and, frankly, didn’t even want to. His best roles were the most outlandish—Beau Geste, Good Neighbor Sam, Along Came Jones. All images of what we expected him to be—an innocent suddenly exposed to reality. Not his macho roles.
you're not the only one. She was the first to come to mind.
Diane Keaton runs a close second.
Without a doubt, Julia Roberts. Ugh.
Gwyneth Paltrow.
His best roles were his early dippy ones like "Big" and "The Money Pit". He was very funny.
When he started taking himself seriously ("Philadelphia") I lost interest and never really understood the fascination with him.
I’m not even going to scroll down to see if this is a re-peat.......Nicolas Cage - nepotism personified, for sure.
Casting Julia Roberts in PRETTY WOMAN was the worse piece of casting in Hollywood history. Maybe the working script was entitled UGLY WOMAN.
Now, if she had been cast in THE POPE OF GREENWICH VILLAGE....
Gwyneth. YES, the epitome of child-of.
Who is he?
Agree on Gregory Peck. He was really good in most everything, but take a good look sometime at “Pork Chop Hill”. He really was in command of that (film) company.
My exception: Leonardo diCaprio. Catch Me If You Can, and The Aviator ... IMO, he's proven himself a versatile and damned-fine actor.
Definitely agree re Jack Nicholson. He’s a caricature of himself. The only roles he’s done well are clownish. The Joker, for example.
his Dr. Leo Marvin in What About Bob is sensationally accurate.
“Death Therapy” LOL!! I love that movie.
Hey they left Liz Taylor of the list. Have you ever just really watched her acting? I think she invented over acting. She was good at hysterics thats about it.
But he was awfully good looking....
It’s amazing that a few folks come on the thread and trash Steep. She is universally acclaimed within the industry as the greatest American actress of the last two decades. She has millions of fans throughout the year. She takes on a wide range of roles and characters. Voice coaches say she has nailed several dialects and accents in her roles. Yeah, I guess she’s a real loser.

Bad list for the most part. Leaving Marlon Brando out of the top 10 is all the proof you need. Yes, he “coulda been a countenda” but the fact is he wasn’t. Terrible actor.
1) Warren Beaty
2) Goldie Hahn
3) Shirley Mclaine
4) Marisa Tomei
5) Cuba Gooding Jr
7) Michael Keaton
8) Al Pacino-(after 1992)
9) Dakota Fanning
10) Frank Sinatra
