Yes, many teachers are over paid. It is not because they get summers off. It is because they aren't doing the job of educating students.
Looks like this Journalist didn’t bother reporting any facts about how many days a year teacher’s work, what they get paid, their benefits package, or really inject any information whatsoever.
And, this appears to be in the NEWS section, not the Opinion area.
Yeah, so?
Might want to freep the poll on the page folks, looks like a lot of leftists are visiting not surprisingly.
If your job is so bad, why not do something else?
Teachers don’t have a bad gig...
"Right wingers hate . . . and they hate" . . .
No, no bias or prejudice here. Keep on reading!!

The Sun Sentinel is one of Flori-duh's most left wing propagandist rags. Take everything they say, invert it, divide by the price of peanut butter and you might get a grain of truth.
Yes, teachers are overpaid.
I give public schools a grade of “F” so I am going to say they are overpaid.
Personally, I believe teachers should make about 1/2 as much as nurses.
- I’ve seen nurese have to run to the aid of patients.
- I’ve seen nurses have to stick suppositories up old hairy people’s asses.
- If nurses make mistakes, the consequences could be grave.
- If a nurse makes a mistake, they could be fired.
- Nurses work every shift there is.
- Nurses work every holiday — including, Christmas, Labor Day, etc.
- Nurses don’t get tenure.
- Nurses don’t get a 3 month vacation every year.
- Nurses don’t have union thugs representing their every wish.
- Teachers get every benefit ever known to man .... and then some more.
- We don’t need more money spent on education when so many teachers’ unions are worth billions and billions of dollars. If they own airlines, office buildings, golf courses, etc., they really don’t need more money for education.
- Teachers come up with a lesson plan one year and repeat it every year for 25 years. It’s all about passing the standardized tests.
There are obviously some good teachers. Many of them are victims of the FAILED system. Unfortunately, many of them aren’t very good. Many of them went to colleges that rival degree mills and then they set there and draw checks for 25 years.
I’ve been around both and I find that nurses have to work much harder and put in more hours than teachers. I believe nurses have to know more too.
So do I believe teachers are overpaid? YES!!!!!!!!
I confronted a teacher that I know with the “summers off” argument, and that lying sack said he didn’t get paid for that time. Meanwhile, he is always complaining about being broke because the taxes are so high. He’s right about the taxes because he lives in the PRNJ, but I wonder if he realizes that those taxes are paying for his $80K salary and free health care?
...And that this generation has no clue who we fought against in World War 2 or where Iraq and Afghanistan are...
...But are able to spout off a bunch of marxist claptrap talking points about global warming and multiculturalism...
...Then HELL YES, we're overpaying our teachers.
Yes. In many places they would still be overpaid if they worked the summer.
Teachers are way over paid as it is. When you tally, the work conditions, salary, health benes, pensions, health care for life, easy work hours, off time, etc, they are making a killing.
Easy test.....when I was in grade school, it was big news when one of the teachers bought a new car. I drive by the schools now, and the teachers all have cars that are better than mine.
If teachers are overpaid then why aren’t the best and brightest rushing to take the jobs?
Considering the quality of the product produced..? Way overpaid.
Teachers are offered a contract every year. It’s a yearly contract for X amount of money. They can opt to receive it over 12 months in which they’d get a check during the summer break or take it for 10 months in which they’d not receive a check during the summer break.
Considering the fact that about half of their students don’t graduate, yes they’re overpaid.
No problem, Gary, because you don't pay them.
If you base it on customer results, most teachers are overpaid. Some way overpaid.
If you base it on 9 months of work, most are overpaid. Some way overpaid.
If you base it on wages based on seniority and not ability, most are overpaid. Some way overpaid.
If you base it on including salary, healthcare and retirement benefits, most are overpaid, some way overpaid.
If you base it on the fact the average teacher makes 1 1/2 times in salary and benefits than the average taxpaying private worker, most are overpaid, some way overpaid.
Considering the product they turn out they should have to pay to keep destroying minds!
