COLLEGE STATION A swanky television network beaming from the states capital has threatened to do what the departures of Nebraska and Colorado could not: bust up the Big 12. Texas A&M president R. Bowen Loftin used the term uncertainty time and again Thursday in describing the state of the league, thanks to the start of the ESPN-owned Longhorn Network in Austin next month. The (recent) announcement by ESPN that the Longhorn Network might carry a conference (football) game in addition to a nonconference game was troubling, and then following right after that was ESPNs announcement regarding high school games would be televised as well, Loftin said. Both of those we believe provide a great deal of uncertainty right now for us and the conference. The Aggies uprising against the $300 million enterprise has appeared to pay off for A&M. Hours after Loftin addressed the issue following a closed-door session by A&M regents concerning the matter, Big 12 commissioner Dan Beebe released a statement.

If they don't like the Longhorn Network, the Aggies can sign their own $300 million dollar deal and start the Aggie Network.
Chaos!
LOL - Isn’t University of Houston still crying to get in to that conference?
colorado and nebraska sure went down hill.
Simple. My cable bill will subsidize the UT athletic department even though I won’t be watching that channel.
Not if you cancel your cable service.
colorado and nebraska sure went down hill.
Ya riggggggghhhhhhhhhttttttttt.......!!!!!!!!!!! Like the Big 10 is down hill from Texas and the little 9
This just exposed what Nebraska has hinted at for years...
In the words of Nelson HA HA!!!
The question concerning high school games is interesting. Could it be used as a recruiting tool? High school coaches are often very influential in steering recruits to one college or another. This is why college coaches work hard to develop good relationships with the coaches at top high school programs. Carrying a particular school’s games on the university network could furhter enhance that relationship.
300,000,000 for football? Is UT a state school? If they’re going to rake that much I’m sure lowering tuition can not be far behind. Hooker Horns!
That all may be true, but it does not prohibit the Aggies from getting their own deal with ESPN.
It aint gonna seem right. The Huskers in the big ten. But, it should make for some interesting football I will grant ya that.
I tend to watch more college now than pro.
WE BE EXCITED! The big 10 sure has gone out of it’s way to welcome us! Can’t wait to see some exciting games!
Don’t be fooled
The football program has nothing to do with the University.
Well then...be prepared for some three downs and a cloud of dust football! OH YA!!
UT's tuition is the highest in the state for public universities. It's right below private school tuition. Then every week parents of UT students get calls to donate if for nothing else beause it's Thurday. Two years ago UT president whined about the Top 10% ruling (top 10% of TX high school graduates get automatic acceptance to a TX public university). Hey, it was UT's fault that Texas has it since it resulted from a suit filed against UT descriminating against white law students in favor of "diversity"! Anyway, UT was all up in arms and wanting it struck down and the legislature spent days and $$$$ on revamping it all because.... drum roll, please.... ready?... are you sure?... because continuing the ruling would cause UT to have to cancel it's football team!!!!! O - M - G, can you believe?!? Yes, the UT president actually told reporters that and he wasn't fired. AND the Texas Legislature changed the ruling so that UT now only has to admit the Top 8% whereas all the other TX public universities still have to follow the original Top 10%.
Come on Aggies, we have a place for you in the SEC.
If they don’t like it, change the channel...
here was a young lady from Niger
Who smiled as she rode on a tiger
They returned from the ride
With the lady inside
And the smile on the face of the tiger.
That’s right.
It’s the University of Texas and it can do what ever it wants.
Arrogance, thy name is tu.
The NCAA has all these rules in place prohibiting extra benefits going to recruits. Are you trying to make the case that broadcasting high school games on tsip-TV won't provide a recruiting advantage in influencing players, coaches, or schools?
