He has a Remington 1858 New Model Army .44 C&B there.
Mine with three C&B cylinders (they are fast and easy to change out) and one .45 LC conversion cylinder.
Whoops, may be my bad, after closer look at link with image enlarged, it could very well be he had a Remington New Model Navy, (Beals?) .36 caliber
How can you tell the difference between caliber from that picture?
Very nice gear.....BTTT !

Army model only came in .44 and the Navy only in .36.
The 1858 Army .44 caliber had 8” barrel, the Navy .36 caliber barrels varied from 7.5” to 7.375”. Navy model also had a slightly smaller frame and different loading lever than the Army model.

Great idea. This reminds me of some of the haunting diary entries (and letters) they used in the Ken Burns series.
Speaking of which, the local museum here has had a special exhibit on the Civil War local connections (I suspect it includes letters) probably in that fairly small room of display windows off the ground floor of the whale room. Have to get down there, maybe on Friday.
