LABARRE — Hundreds of dead and dying birds littered a quarter-mile stretch of highway in Pointe Coupee Parish on Monday as motorists drove over and around them.
State biologists are trying to determine what led to the deaths of the estimated 500 red-winged blackbirds and starlings on La. 1 just down the road from Pointe Coupee Central High School.
The discovery of the dead birds — some of which were lying face down, clumped in groups, while others were face up with their wings outstretched and rigid legs pointing upward — comes just three days after more than 3,000 blackbirds rained down from the sky in Beebe, Ark.

Could happen if someone was trying to create a home made EMP device, if detonated at ground level its range will be severely restricted, up...and down.

Maybe. But I would think hailstones big enough to kill a bird would leave some other evidence.
And I would think the birds themselves would try to take cover. But then they are birds, that means bird-brains, so who knows?
Sounds like whatever it was, it was a very sudden and short event, and the affected birds basically didn’t have a chance.

Why only black birds? Wouldn't other birds be caught up as well?
That is because most freepers have never actually listened and just repeat what they hear about it. I was once among them until last year, with plenty of excess time, I listened to the podcasts. He may be a bit mellowdramatic but Alex Jones fully understands the elites and what they have planned for us. And for the record there is no talk of UFOs or reptilian races of people on his show.
I get a lot of red winged blackbirds feeding in my yard this time of year. It’s not unusual to see 200-300 at a time. They flock in large numbers. Is it possible they may have all fed on something that was tainted?
I bet they were moving in a flock, got swept up to high altitude by a freak circulatory current and got flash-frozen.
Maybe they were caught up in a funnel cloud!

The only other explanation I can think of; for these birds and fish dying could be the freak cold snaps down south?
I had hundreds land in my front yard about a month ago. They were eating something in the grass and then left in a flash.
Im not sure if the ones that landed in my yeard were starlings or red winged black birds.

That may be true, but Alex Jones has been at the front of the 9-11 conspiracy movement (Bush did it!), and I just cannot get past that.
