Wikileaks continues to rock the political world by shedding light on conspiracies, corruption and cover-ups. The latest batch of diplomatic cables released by Wikileaks reveals what can only be characterized as a U.S.-led conspiracy to force GMOs onto European countries by making those countries pay a steep price if they resist.
The cable reveals the words of Craig Stapleton, the US ambassador to France, who was pushing the commercial interests of the biotech industry by attempting to force GMOs into France. In his own words (below), he expresses his frustration with the idea that France might pass environmental laws that would hamper the expansion of GMOs:
Europe is moving backwards not forwards on this issue with France playing a leading role, along with Austria, Italy and even the [European] Commission Moving to retaliation will make clear that the current path has real costs to EU interests and could help strengthen European pro-biotech voice.
Got that so far? His own words: Retaliation as a way to make [it] clear that resisting GMOs will have a price.
Stapleton goes on to say something rather incredible:
Country team Paris recommends that we calibrate a target retaliation list that causes some pain across the EU since this is a collective responsibility, but that also focuses in part on the worst culprits. The list should be measured rather than vicious and must be sustainable over the long term, since we should not expect an early victory
As you read these words again, remember that these are the words of the U.S. ambassador to France who is suggesting the US calibrate a target retaliation list in order to cause some pain across the EU that must be sustainable over the long term.

They eat everything in sight.
If they are sterile they will not sprout.
Buy mine from here every year cheap and never had one not grow and not produce guaranteed no GMO seeds .....
Why do you think the Government wants to control whats grown at your own house it's because of the stake they have in GMO's
This has nothing to do with American interests and everything to do with Monsanto's interests! If GMO is so harmless, why is Monstanto and all the other companies working so hard to hide it's presence in our food supply?!
You must be a trusting person. Do you really think that all the required information will be on a package? I don't.
That's not entirely true. If you plant a non Monsanto crop and some of your crop gets contaminated w/ pollen from your neighbors GMO crop and you try to save or resell your seeds, Monsanto will come down on you like a ton of bricks and sue you for "copyright infringement" and take you to the cleaners.
Conservatives should not be the cheerleaders for Monsanto!
Monsanto......
and
Spooky Dude.
“Soros buys 897,813 Monsanto shares” (Nov, 2010) http://www.bizjournals.com/stlouis/morning_call/2010/11/soros-buys-897813-monsanto-shares.html
As ofMarch of 2010, Soros’ hedge fund had a 3.5% stake ownership of Monsanto, IIRC.
And now, voila. S510. All your seed are belong to us. And your food. And your vitamins. And herbs. And gardens. And food ‘safety.’ And breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinners for school kids.........
GMO are not labeled so your snarky comment about literacy is out of place. Monsanto and companies like them fight tooth and nail against any requirement to tell the truth about their seeds or the foods made from them. Monsanto are sneaky SOB's.
Michael R. Taylor's appointment by the Obama administration to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on July 7th sparked immediate debate and even outrage among many food and agriculture researchers, NGOs and activists. The Vice President for Public Policy at Monsanto Corp. from 1998 until 2001, Taylor exemplifies the revolving door between the food industry and the government agencies that regulate it. He is reviled for shaping and implementing the government's favorable agricultural biotechnology policies during the Clinton administration.
“Vitamin C now requires a prescription
“And that includes those risky oranges,” explain anonymous doctors”
Monday, August 01, 2005
By Bill Powell
“In another two-vote landslide victory Thursday, the House voted that Vitamin C can no longer be purchased without a prescription.
“With our new CAFTA allegiance to the U.N.’s CODEX health police, we can finally nail all this quackery of ‘herbs’ and ‘vitamins,’” exulted Senator Jeff Jefferson (R-NZ). “And vitamin C is a perfect place to start.”

This is from 2005, folks. Vitamin C. Hello????

Just Say NO to GMO’s
Riots in Europe over Frankenfood.
Movements worldwide to pass legislation that would prevent gene-altered foods from being sold in grocery stores or at a minimum, to be clearly labeled as GMO (Genetically Modified Organism).
A major agri-business supplier tries to suppress the results of a study conducted by its own scientists.
Roundup herbicide used routinely to control weeds by spraying directly on growing food crops, such as corn and soy beans.
People by the hundreds of thousands turn increasingly to Heirloom seeds to produce their own food.
A Genetically Modified Organism (GMO) results from a discipline called Genetic Engineering which involves taking genes from one species and inserting them into another. For example, genes from an arctic flounder which has “antifreeze” properties may be spliced into a tomato to prevent frost damage. It is impossible to guide the insertion of the new gene. This can lead to unpredictable effects.
The process of creating GMOs bears no resemblance to traditional breeding techniques. The government’s own Genetic Modification (Contained Use) Regulations admit this when it defines GM as “the altering of the genetic material in that organism in a way that does not occur naturally by mating or natural recombination or both”.
In sharp contrast to hybrids, Heirlooms trace their ancestry back many years to a time when pesticides and herbicides were not in use. As Jere Gettle, the owner of Baker Creek Heirloom Seed Co. puts it, Basically, an Heirloom seed is one that has been passed down through families and is usually considered to be over 50 years old. Unlike hybrid GMOs, which cannot reproduce, Heirloom seeds can be saved and replanted, ensuring a trustworthy supply of family food year after year.
Says Jere, “People are really tired of the way produce in the supermarket tastes. They remember when they were kids and the delicious produce that came from their grandma’s garden. The tomatoes tasted good and the melons were sweet. Everything that they’re bringing in from Mexico and California is picked green and shipped, and it just doesn’t taste like it used to.” Also, people are starting to get more concerned that the nutritional value is gone as well. “More and more allergies keep developing,” Jere added. “And a lot of people think that might have something to do with genetic engineering, all the different chemicals they’re spraying on the foods.”
The bottom line: Until agri-business companies can positively assure the public through replicatable tests that eating GMO food is safe, food that has been genetically modified should be labeled as such, as a bare minimum precaution. This would cost practically nothing and would give consumers a choice, instead of being unwittingly lulled into buying food that might be bad for them.
What I meant by sterile, is sterile in the second generation. I can’t save seeds from the first generation. Those seeds either don’t sprout or they produce something strange. I don’t want seeds that have insecticides in them.
I am not a big fan of Monsanto. And FAR from a Cheerleader.
Neither am I a big fan of misinformation. Every word I posted, IN YOUR ITALICS, is accurate to the best of my knowledge.
Farmers DO have choices. If they don’t want to sign the agreements stating they will not plant bin run seed, they have other choices of seed that is NOT GMO, which doesn’t require signing the agreement to plant.
I said nothing of errant pollen in my post. That’s another line for this discussion. But not one I put on the table.
Good grief...can't you identify satire when you read it?
Wow..
BUMP!
It sounds like you are looking for organic seeds. Each state has a different definition of ‘Organic’ in it’s state code. So be sure to understand what may be organic in one state, may not be in another.
In Iowa, I believe soil MUST NOT have had commercial herbicides and pesticides used on the soil for 3 years before a field can grow certified organic produce. (assuming, of course, that organic seed is planted to this field)
These time limits may vary from one state to another. Be sure to check that the seed you are buying is compatable with your state’s definition of organic.
It is normally expected that the US government protects American interests against foreign conspiracies
Are you joking?
It is not the job of the United States Government to meddle in other countries decisions to further the bottom line of American countries.
If Monsanto has a product people dont want they wont purchase it. that is a foundational precept of capitalism.
Strong-arming by a government in behalf of a client-corporation is at best, a misuse of govenment time, and at worse, way out of line.
Who is Fenton?
david fentonOh, and look what I just found:
Directed the anti-Bush media blitz for the group September 11th Families for Peaceful Tomorrows
Radical anti-war protestor and Communist journalist In the 1960s, was a media specialist for the Liberation News Service and a photographer for the Weathermen, a domestic terrorist group [my note: see Obama's buddy Bill Ayers]
In the 1970s, orchestrated the "No Nukes" concerts
In the 1980s, worked in media relations for the Communist regimes of Angola, Nicaragua, and Grenada
His company, Fenton Communications, assists in the public relations strategies for MoveOn.org and Win Without War

Just as I thought:
1989 : (GENETICALLY MODIFIED FOODS SCARE-- See FENTON COMMUNISCATIONS, FAMINE IN AFRICA ) Since 1989, Fenton and his company, Fenton Communications, has been largely preoccupied with creating media strategies for left-wing groups, including one of his primary clients, Environmental Media Services. Its anti-biogenetic message, which claims that genetically engineered foods are dangerous to eat, has made millions of dollars for Fenton's clients, which include such health food producers as: Whole Foods Markets, Honest Tea, Kashi Cereal, Green Mountain Coffee, and Rodale Press, a magazine publisher of periodicals concerning organic gardening and foods.
This approach has also worked for ice cream producers Ben & Jerry's, another client of Fenton's. Starting with a series of press conferences in the late 1990s, Environmental Media Services promoted the idea that a hormone given to dairy cows to produce milk could cause cancer, despite the fact that the FDA had shown the hormone to be safe. Ben & Jerry's ice cream stood to gain from the bad press aimed at the dairy industry because their ice cream is made with hormone-free milk. --------This profile [of David Fenton] was adapted from the article titled "Peaceful Tomorrows, Leftists Todays," written by Thomas Ryan and published by FrontPageMagazine.com on March 17, 2004.
‘outrage among many food and agriculture researchers, NGOs and activists.’
Otherwise known as environmentalist wackos, enemies of the US, and destroyers of the American economy.
Yep - big old corporate whores masquerading as “diplomats”. I wonder how much money they are getting from the big agri companies or what cushy jobs they will roll into once the diplomatic gig is up. DC is nothing but a revolving door...
Don’t forget ADM as well - Archer Daniel Midlands.
