Vince Lombardi must be rolling over in his grave (Pink accessories to NFL football uniforms)
The NFL political correctness mafia ^ | October 3, 2010 | Paleo Conservative

I don't like the pink chin straps, wistles, towels, etc. being used by the NFL this week. There are better ways to support cancer awareness. Why should breast cancer be singled out? Why not prostate cancer?

I sure miss Pete Rozelle as NFL Commissioner.

Yes. That is good information.

While the NFL might not officially be supporting Komen, but rather breast cancer awareness in general, clearly Komen has cornered the market, so to speak, in the public’s mind. Thus, to the extent that people even think beyond the pink stuff, they assume it refers to the Komen foundation.

Not as far as I’m concerned.

The pink NFL stuff is just the tip of the iceberg in a world of corporations and businesses flooding consumers with their PR — er, “support” for the Komen foundation.

So when will the NFL have prostrate cancer survivor month or how about an erectile dysfunction month?

I'm just not getting this whole "pink" thing. I thought that most women wanted to be treated as equals and not as helpless sissies. Now the men are apparently being asked to dress like sissies so they they can "show awareness" and be politically correct.

It reminds me of the craze during the 1980s when men with pregnant spouses were being told they needed to wear some sort of "maternity vest" which was basically some kind of pillow loaded down with weights so that they could know what it was like to be pregnant.

Tip of the iceberg? Guess you haven’t been paying much attention to stores in October for the last decade. Corporate charity has been around a long time, the NFL has been involved in it for almost 40 years, lately Komen has gotten big, but nothing about this is new.

Breast Cancer is #3 Cancer,
I donated generously to our race team but still, lets not just throw the most money at the diseases with the best organizational skills like we did with AIDS.

When I was swimming in corporate dollars, I always sent big checks to St. Jude’s. I figured the little kids deserve the help, no offense to us grown-ups.

It’s funny watching people get all twisted over silly stuff. Like the whole world is going to implode because some players CHOSE to wear pink gloves for a few games.

A real man knows that supporting women isn’t a threat to his masculinity.

Breast cancer is important, and supporting women is good, but you can do it without wearing pink cleats.

Because the Panther's player that asked Tagliabue to do something league-wide had lost his Mom and three aunts to breast cancer, not his Dad and three uncles to prostate cancer.

It depends on the team. Most seem to be supporting Susan G. Komen, but some aren’t... For example, the Packers are supporting the American Cancer Society.

Lets face it, the breast is an iconic image in our culture, representing not only a sexual fetish but the supreme infantile comfort of nursing in mother's arms.

That having been said, I agree this pink stuff is getting to be rather histrionic and pointless. If the NFL wants to "fight breast cancer" it can donate a few million to research and treatment. Now on with the game.

The NFL is looking like circus more every week. Overpaid BS. And the commercials cause me to record the game and watch it later.

The world's turned upside down. NFL players are wearing pink chin straps; referees have pink wistles; players are wearing pink shoes, coaches are wearing team caps with pink trim, everyone's using pink towels, etc.

Look. I know all about breasts, and know all about breast cancer.

Now let's move on... To TESTICULAR cancer!
That's right, Testicular cancer. Testicular cancer will DIRECTLY effect players in the NFL, and I know that we know less about the balls than the boobies.

I have the whole thing figured out... Instead of wearing pink, we attack 2 rubber balls (like the Truck Nuts) to the back of everyone's helmet. Or we put a sticker on the helmet if people are worried about safety.

Or, we put a sticker/patch on the chinstrap, so it would give the impression of balls on the chin. That would get the gays to watch...
