Scientists have discovered what is believed to be one of the world's oldest doodles - an ancient scrawl carved onto a rock by a caveman 4,500 years ago.
Cambridge University experts believe the crudely etched circles are the Neolithic version of a modern office worker's scribbles on a post-it note.
The 6.6in (17cm) chunk of sandstone was discovered by an amateur archaeologist from the bottom of a deep quarry in Over, Cambs., during a university fun day.

I bet they had a hard time getting it to stick to the fridge.
Interesting, but how do they know how old it is? Maybe some kid did it while he was out on hike a few years ago.
Initially thought by some to be the first example of a blog, this theory was discounted when it was pointed out that the stone pre-dates AlGore by 4,435 years.
It also shows no signs of having been pimped onto a well-established, popular rock.

They *know* these things.

"They liked to use the concentric circle but we don't know why, it may have been some kind of way to express their world view."
I'm wondering if these people are totally off base. Reason: This is SANDSTONE. I've happened to spend a lot of time in my life in a sandy area with occasional stalks of grass growing through and some exposure to moisture. A couple of times I've noticed that a stalk of grass or weed has died (sometimes with one or two small leaves protruding), then a steady wind blows it in a circular motion and circular patterns like the one in the photo are created. I have taken photos of them because of their unique beauty (unfortunately I don't know which photo folder they are in right now.)
What a crock...
*Snicker*
Gunner, clean your fingernails.
Back in the time, this is what passed for modern art. Guy couldn’t draw, so he doodled.
