OK, so I have read a little, listened a little, and figured that the question of Obama's citizenship and birth would never be answered, so why dive into it. But just now, I listened to Anderson Cooper on CNN (I know, I know, why am I watching PRAVDA?) blabber on and on in a very assertive, denunciatory tone to someone from Arizona over that state's recent passage of a bill requiring presidential candidates to prove their citizenship. Cooper went on ad nauseum about how stupid anyone is who questions Obama, how the birth certificate has been PROVEN to be authentic, that the matter should be settled. But the adamancy in his voice bothered me. Why is he so exercised about it if that is really true? He'd be calm, or so I said to myself. Anyway, anybody else watch this?
The most secretive admininstration in history.
. . . a good word, indubitably. :-)
The one in Hawaii?
From what I understand, all anyone has seen is a jpg on a website.
1) Whatever candidate that runs for office, with special qualifications required, would have to have HIS/Her Party CERTIFY that the candidate meets ALL requirements for qualification. A candidate so CERTIFIED CAN NOT be challenged.
2) Should evidence appear that the candidate IS NOT QUALIFIED, The candidate/office holder would be removed from office and his Party penalized (such as with loss of donor tax deduct ability) for a TBD period of time. The penalty would be applied at time of discovery and verification, regardless of when it occurs (including after the term is served) The certifying Party would be penalized and in case of the president, that presidency annulled.
Such a law would not be targeting anyone and it would become effective for the 2012 election.
Not to split hairs, but I believe gerbils are their rodent of choice.
I didn’t watch that show, but I agree that Anderson Cooper shouldn’t get worked up about this.
What did the Arizona person say? Something like, “I agree, but no reasonable person could disagree with what we’re doing.
Hopefully when Obama gives Arizona and other states his birth certificate this whole birther thing will go away. We’re with you. We’re helping Obama put this birther thing to rest.”
OH MY GOD! I just realized that this bill would apply in 2012! :-)
Nope - never watch the commie news network. Wish someone would ask these people how come they assume that this law has something to do with Obama. It just says all candidates must show documentation to prove their eligibility. What’s wrong with that?
Seem to me they have just corrected an oversight. If Obama’s certificate has already been proven-what’s the beef? If that is true, it should be easy to produce in 2012.
Only children born from the union of two US citizens is elgible to become our president.
“Is that true? I have never heard that angle.”
Neither have I. Some how I don’t think it’s that cut and dry. If it were the case, the “birther” movement wouldn’t exist because there would be no need to be questioning Obama’s birth place or the validity of any birth certificate.
Sort of my thought, too. I think you just have to be born here.
Here’s a good article to start with.
“History answers the question of what natural born citizen means, and leaves NO wiggle room for debate or wishful agenda-driven interpretations.
The term was first used by the British Royal family. The question at the time was how to keep the Royal bloodline intact when members of the Royal family traveled abroad extensively, often giving birth to offspring while abroad, therefore bringing the issue of native born into question.”

Lot’s of evidence to point to the meaning of natural born citizen to require 2 citizen parents, but it has not been definitively decided in a court of law.
Congress could define it with a constitutional amendment, but never has. They did try to define it by statute, but the Supreme Court had some cases that rendered the 1790 statue moot, and it is inactive.
Hitler was a leftwinger. The main reason he was called a rightwinger was to draw a distinction between Nazis and Communists. Nazis, Communists, Fascists, etc. are all big government, left wing, types of government.
Nazi is short for National Socialism.
That’s my point. They’d scream to high Heaven that he’s not qualified.
I agree, but would add.
Fascism was an extreme left of center ideology. But it was still right of Communism. It was the “middle way”, so how could it ever be right of Capitalism?
That’s where the mistake is made, in my opinion.
it’s always been the law. the Founder’s didn’t want a British spy sneaking into our executive branch. Ooops, a Britisher from Kenya did!
Last I looked, Pravda was much less propagandizing than CNN.
I worked with 2 Ukraines and 1 Siberian, and I finally looked up Pravda to find out where they got their wildly misinformed, insanly anti American stance, and quickly found my answer.
Yes, they made a crack about Obama. They hate ALL Americans, even illegal aliens.
The only worth I found on those pages was what sort of crackpot nonsense my co workers were going to convince me of, so I could let them down gently.
