Once upon a time there lived in the land of El Salvador an anti-communist hero named Domingo Monterrosa. He was from the town of Berlin in the province of Usulutan. The 3rd Brigade in El Salvador bears his name. He said he wanted to be a soldier because as a young man he thought the girls would not think him so ugly in a nice uniform. Salvadoran 3rd BDE

At the time I signed up, last year, I was driving a 2002 Black Montecarlo.

I was outed by my email address years ago.
As for my heritage, I am Jewish, Turkic, and Eastern Slavic. People guess my ethnicity before they know my name.

Mine is where my wife asked me to spread her ashes. In 2004 I honored her request.

It goes back to the days when I spent a lot of time on IRC. My handle was AgentOrange (get it? - from Orange County).

The vast majority of veterans I ran into were OK with it. But a few weren't.

Because I respect veterans, I decided to come up with a "kinder, gentler" alternative whenever that situation came up.

On my desk, I spotted an opera CD that I'd recently purchased and listened to. It was called Luceafărul (The Evening Star) and it was by the Romanian composer Nicolae Bretan.

And there you have it. :)

Cacique is the word the Taino and Carib tribes used to describe their paramount chieftains. The Spaniards adopted the word for all Indian tribal leaders, including the Aztec and Inca Caciques. It was one of my father’s “nom de guerre” in Argentine politics. I took it as my own and use it as my avatar on the internet.

Mine’s in my sig line, and also on my about page. Yes, I know Screwtape was a devil, but sometimes the force of truth wrenches it compulsorily from their lips.

Aircraft carrier steam catapults utilize a piece of equipment known as the Capacity Selector Valve or CSV for short. During the sequence of events leading up to launching the aircraft, the command , "Set CSV " was given. Once the valve was set to the corresponding value, the response, " CSV Set " would be relayed. Wow, exciting stuff huh?

Here's an image of the valve.

Northern Yankee... Need I say more?!

I certainly am from the north, and am one of those "damned yankees". Although hearing a southern belle's voice just melts this ole heart. I love the courage of the south and have absolute respect for their independent spirit.

A pain to get the permit in Detroit.
