Sudden disappearance of Deep River scientist mystifies colleagues

TORONTO - There are still no leads in the case of an eastern Ontario scientist who disappeared without a trace last month, leaving his colleagues mystified. Lachlan Cranswick hasn't been seen since Jan. 18, when he left work at the National Research Council's Canadian Neutron Beam Centre in Chalk River, northwest of Ottawa.

His nearby Deep River house was reportedly left unlocked and his car was in the garage. His wallet, keys and passport have all been accounted for......

NOPE, it's all from November 17, 2009 -- just like you said, it's from before Thanksgiving.

I'm going to give up on the Internet, and return to the TV news; I'm quite alarmed that for all the time I spend browsing news sites and reading articles about terrorism, I'd never once seen anything about all the nuke plants in India being placed on high alert.

I'm sure they must have mentioned that on MSM.

Well, that may explain why there are accidents & suicides & murders and other potential violence in the nuclear industry in India, I simply had NO idea.

They also believe that terror cells have been sent from India to "target" countries -- isn't that odd that we don't have HUNDREDS of articles about THAT????

I only learned about it in an article incorrectly dated today, but it's from last November.

I decided to re-read that article from last November about all the nuclear facilities in India having been placed on high alert -- and from my search at google, I learned that the article was a FREE article originating from a source filled with thousands of FREE articles.

Anyway, I won't have time in my schedule for quite a while, but I am curious if Dr. Cranswick spent much time in India and/or Pakistan and/or Iran -- he's got some Anglican ancestors, one of whom sent Christian missionaries into Iran long long long ago; but I have no idea if Lachlan himself has any personal connections to India or Pakistan or Iran; it is just known that he wanted to distribute scientific info on CD roms to countries where Internet access was restricted and/or lacking in availability.

A former National Research Council scientist has been battling the Canadian government over allegations he participated in Iran's controversial weapons program.

Mohammad Jahazi held a high-level post at the NRC's Institute for Aerospace Research but left Canada in 2008 after Ottawa rejected him as an immigrant for security reasons.

Federal Immigration officials told the Iranian scientist they suspected he had taken part in Iran's arms efforts and had supplied information to Tehran on Iranian dissidents in Canada and Europe. Mr. Jahazi denied the allegations and yesterday........

........The NRC declined comment. The ruling comes amid growing international concern over Iran's missile and nuclear programs, which have been built largely on science and technology stolen from abroad.

The RCMP arrested an Iranian national in Toronto last year for allegedly attempting to send nuclear-related parts to Iran. A Canadian Customs official said last fall his officers had been seizing a wide range of weapons-related shipments destined for Iran.

Mr. Velshi said the government argued that there were inconsistencies in Mr. Jahazi's account of his past and travel history, and that publicly available documentation linked his Iranian employers with arms sales to terrorists.

........He applied to immigrate in 2001 but, after being interviewed by Canadian Security Intelligence Service officers, was rejected on security grounds for being a member of an organization engaged in espionage, subversion and terrorism. The name of that terrorist organization was not publicly named but immigration officials claimed the university where Mr. Jahazi was employed was under the control of Iran's Revolutionary Guards Corps.

Immigration officials also said the Iranian Research Organization where he worked was implicated in the production of weapons of mass destruction........

But they never found a body, I read a few articles, it sounded like they only had circumstantial evidence, and her defense attorney filed a complaint about how long it was taking the prosecution to develop their charges.
