TORONTO - There are still no leads in the case of an eastern Ontario scientist who disappeared without a trace last month, leaving his colleagues mystified. Lachlan Cranswick hasn't been seen since Jan. 18, when he left work at the National Research Council's Canadian Neutron Beam Centre in Chalk River, northwest of Ottawa.
His nearby Deep River house was reportedly left unlocked and his car was in the garage. His wallet, keys and passport have all been accounted for......

Thanks Hennie Pennie, but that been on since before Thanksgiving.
Here’s the background link which shows more background links for anyone interested.
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2387736/posts
They had it dated "March 7th" but that was WRONG.
It may be March 7, 2010.
There may be something newer.
I don’t know, I’ve never seen that source you post.
It’s an ongoing situation/investigation.
I'm going to give up on the Internet, and return to the TV news; I'm quite alarmed that for all the time I spend browsing news sites and reading articles about terrorism, I'd never once seen anything about all the nuke plants in India being placed on high alert.
I'm sure they must have mentioned that on MSM.
Thanks again for your assistance, Cindy. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&source=hp&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=nuclear-plants+high-alert+india
Well, that may explain why there are accidents & suicides & murders and other potential violence in the nuclear industry in India, I simply had NO idea.
Time to re-plug in the TV and turn it back on.
Thanks for the information, very interesting.
This below was the one I reported to you recently--""We got a complaint from his wife Feb 18 and registered a complaint as 'man missing'. As per our information, Ananthanarayanan was disturbed about the health condition of his child and he might have gone to some temple"...some temple? Leaves an ill child behind?
Missing nuclear scientist dead
CHENNAI: S Anantha Narayanan (37), scientific officer with Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research (IGCAR), Kalpakkam, who had been missing since February 15, was run over by a train near Guduvancheri, 30km south of Chennai, on the same day.
Now this is last June '09. But I ask you what is the common denominator you read here?
N-scientist with access to secrets missing
11 Jun 2009, Alarm in the nuclear community after a top nuclear scientist at the Kaiga Atomic Energy Station in Karnataka has gone missing from Mallapur Township in Karwar district since Monday morning (June 8). Lokanath Mahalingam, a scientific officer at the atomic station who hailed from Anna Nagar in Chennai had gone out a stroll but did not return since. The missing nuclear scientist is one of the top officials with access to sensitive documents at the very important facility.[appeared to have no family problems]
Common denominator? They go out for a "stroll"..
Now back in June it was reported: Senior US officials alleged that YSR Prasad and C Surendra both former and successive chiefs of the state-run Nuclear Power Corporation of India had collaborated in providing assistance to Iran in pursuit of her efforts at enrichment of Uranium to weapon grade levels; misdemeanours that earned them the slapping of US sanctions. According to US sources, Washington had informed Delhi as early as 2003 regarding suspicions of nuclear proliferation activities of rogue Indian scientists[use your "find on page"].
The DR.,brother of the missing scientist in Canada, is wondering why it took so long for anyone surrounding his brother to report him missing.
Well that is curious.
Sounds like a Tom Clancy novel.
I found POSTS, but no actual messagethread about India putting all the nuke plants on High Alert.
They also believe that terror cells have been sent from India to "target" countries -- isn't that odd that we don't have HUNDREDS of articles about THAT????
I only learned about it in an article incorrectly dated today, but it's from last November.
India puts N-plants on alert says Defense News: "Indian authorities have put security on high alert near nuclear plants and related facilities, following tips from the FBI. New Delhi is closely following the interrogation of U.S. citizen David Headley by the FBI and has sent senior intelligence agency officials to the United States to gather more information." Barc officer from Calcutta kills herself

"Titas's death was the second of a Barc employee in 10 days after a 47-year-old mechanical engineer was on February 22 found dead in his flat. Initially believed to be a suicide, police had later registered a murder case.......S.K. Malhotra, spokesperson for the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), said Titas was a scientific officer with the Isotope division of the Radio Chemistry department."
A N D :
"Trombay police have arrested a 40-year-old man for trying to break into the project office of the Board of Radiation and Isotope technology yesterday night. Barc authorities said the building housed marketing and finance departments and the incident posed no threat to the high-security zone where atomic reactors are located."

Just creeps me out.
I wonder if this young woman's suicide will later be declared to be a homocide, like the other BARC scientist?
Just creepy.
Thanks hennie pennie.
Anyway, I won't have time in my schedule for quite a while, but I am curious if Dr. Cranswick spent much time in India and/or Pakistan and/or Iran -- he's got some Anglican ancestors, one of whom sent Christian missionaries into Iran long long long ago; but I have no idea if Lachlan himself has any personal connections to India or Pakistan or Iran; it is just known that he wanted to distribute scientific info on CD roms to countries where Internet access was restricted and/or lacking in availability.
On the webpage where the first article is published, if you scroll down, there are links to other interesting looking FREE articles, too -- here's what I mean:
Nuclear Installations Put On High Alert
Nuclear installations across the country have been put on high alert as it has been found that David Headley, a US citizen arrested by FBI on terror charges, had visited some states having atomic installations.

A former National Research Council scientist has been battling the Canadian government over allegations he participated in Iran's controversial weapons program.
Mohammad Jahazi held a high-level post at the NRC's Institute for Aerospace Research but left Canada in 2008 after Ottawa rejected him as an immigrant for security reasons.
Federal Immigration officials told the Iranian scientist they suspected he had taken part in Iran's arms efforts and had supplied information to Tehran on Iranian dissidents in Canada and Europe. Mr. Jahazi denied the allegations and yesterday........
........The NRC declined comment. The ruling comes amid growing international concern over Iran's missile and nuclear programs, which have been built largely on science and technology stolen from abroad.
The RCMP arrested an Iranian national in Toronto last year for allegedly attempting to send nuclear-related parts to Iran. A Canadian Customs official said last fall his officers had been seizing a wide range of weapons-related shipments destined for Iran.
Mr. Velshi said the government argued that there were inconsistencies in Mr. Jahazi's account of his past and travel history, and that publicly available documentation linked his Iranian employers with arms sales to terrorists.
........He applied to immigrate in 2001 but, after being interviewed by Canadian Security Intelligence Service officers, was rejected on security grounds for being a member of an organization engaged in espionage, subversion and terrorism. The name of that terrorist organization was not publicly named but immigration officials claimed the university where Mr. Jahazi was employed was under the control of Iran's Revolutionary Guards Corps.
Immigration officials also said the Iranian Research Organization where he worked was implicated in the production of weapons of mass destruction........

I was reflecting on what the brother said in regard to not being able to comprehend how friends and associates surrounding his brother would not have missed him sooner than later. I thought if a person "felt" no one missed him/her, perhaps that generates a sadness no one should ever have to feel........
Partner charged with murder of cancer specialist Bob Chappell
But they never found a body, I read a few articles, it sounded like they only had circumstantial evidence, and her defense attorney filed a complaint about how long it was taking the prosecution to develop their charges.
