Looks like it's up $$ 11.60 right now. I was thinking there were some contracts expiring today or something like that.

I’m glad I am still an avid bicyclist. We may even get more use out of the tandem...

What’s the downside of that part of the world? Turkey vultures? Chiggers? Kudzu?

Yea, but if healthcare reform dies, which I very strongly suspect it will, all bets are off.

Sorry. It is a done deal. What we are reading now about doubts and possible disunity are nothing more than feints and posturing.

I told my BIL, who is foolish to think this is a good deal (ignorant would be more accurate) to watch gold and the dollar as it gets closer to passage. When vote 51 is cast in favor of DeathCare, what we are seeing now with gold and the dollar is going to seem rather tame.

Just read it. I was waiting for the inevitable wars.Thing is, when this pops I think a lot of countries will be hurt worse than us.

But it was very well done and makes me wonder how I am gonna get to Kentucky. Jerk! ;)

And the Maple Leafs have a more
pure gold content
(.9999 millesimal fineness, 24 carats) as well.

Chiggers, ticks, and humidity. In that order. One thing I had to adjust to is that in the Seattle area you can wander into the woods pretty much with impunity. In Kentucky in the summer you may want to use a special suit or you will be eaten alive. We’ll use Guinea hens but will also try to keep the underbrush in the woods down. But you pretty much have to clear it while it is still chilly in Spring while the bugs are still dormant.

Thanks to air conditioning in homes and cars, the only time the humidity should really be a problem is when I am working outside and don’t care how much I sweat anyway. It will still be a bit of a pain though. But every region has it’s drawbacks and plusses, some more than others. The plusses here are huge.

Yep. It’s good for getting around and carrying small loads, but for serious hauling you have to have a plan. I’m going with my matter conversion atomizer/transporter for the big stuff.

I normally avoid using technology from my home planet, but desperate times call for desperate action.

"And the Maple Leafs have a more pure gold content"

This is true, but both the American Eagle and the Maple Leaf have the same amount of pure gold, 1 troy oz. The difference is that the Eagle is alloyed for durability which I think is a good thing. If you want 24kt gold coins then get the American Buffilo, its pure gold.

Futures are up because there will be no public option.

No public option? Do you have a source for that confident declaration? I do sincerely hope that you are correct.

of course there will be a public option.

personally, i’m just hoping they fill in all the sections labeled “TBD” before they vote. otherwise, each TBD is a blank check

Awesome. I went to Ino.com also for more up to date figures. You are right, MONEX wouldn’t be open now.

Me too, Diana. I try not to watch it every day because hopefully I’m in for a long haul. But it’s like an accident, I can’t stop myself from watching. One day up, the next day down. Not good when you’re wrestling with all the other world garbage going on.

I would not trust that price spike as an indicator - it was caused by an attempt to corner the market, and had nothing to do with actual supply and demand.
