CAMDEN, N.J. - Police said a man died Wednesday morning after falling into a tank full of chocolate at a Camden business.
Police were called to a warehouse and manufacturing facility on the 700 block of North 36th Street around 10:45 a.m. Wednesday for a report of a man who had fallen into hot chocolate.
The man had been in the melting pot for about 10 minutes by the time crews arrived, and by the time he was pulled out of the chocolate it was too late. He was declared dead shortly after 11 a.m.
The turnout gear of firefighters at the scene were covered with some chocolate, as were the clothes of an obviously distraught co-worker who was being consoled by an EMT. Th at co-worker appeared to have gone into the tank in an attempt to rescue the man who had fallen in.
According to public records, the building is owned by Lyons and Sons, and C & C Cola also does bottling at the facility. It's not clear exactly where the accident happened and how.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has been called in to investigate, Fox 29's Robin Taylor reported from the scene.

Maybe the factory owner could sell the chocolates to Planned Parenthood and human embryo research proponent Michael J. Fox, who could give them away to big donors.
Poor bugger...probably yelled, CHOCOLATE!", and then wondered why no one came to rescue him.
No mam, he did not suffer. In fact he got out twice. Once to go to the bathroom and once for a jar of peanut butter. Yes it was JIF.
Important safety tip, that.
Hmmm...if they’re that worried about contamination, why use an open vat?
Terry Pratchett’s “Thief of Time”. A character commits suicide by chocolate. (It also turns out to be a potent weapon against extradimensional invaders.)
So I assumed that since the chocolate is to be eaten, the rules about contamination would be at least as strict as for skin-care products. I may be wrong (but it would of course be the very first time in my life) [rolls eyes heavenward], but I'm pretty sure that if someone were to die in there, they'd have to take drastic measures with the chocolate and the cleaning of the tank itself, and also that they're probably insured.
My Dad always said they never used the steel if someone fell in. I know there would be nothing left, it was just done outta respect. Hoffas prolly in the concrete at the bottom of a river...lol
Yes, Go Pat Go!!!! I wish he would advise Sarah. No one knows history better.
Of course, those were only stories and nobody ever named somebody it actually happened to. But the stories sound like something that could probably have happened.
But I'm sure your Dad's story is probably true too. Accidents happened in the mills all the time. And I'm sure they did what little they could to show respect for their lost coworkers.
Thanks, bud!
And I wasn’t pinged to this thread because...?
Read my tag line! :)
I am senile.
Mea culpa ... and my apologies!
This mans memory will live on in every Hershey Bar I eat from here on out. :)
Poor feller. Not quite the Death by Chocolate I’ve been fantasizing!
Well done!
Cheers!

I hope I didn’t touch on some aspect of your psyche best left unexplored.
The desire to be fawned on by many beautiful women, what else?
Cheers!
