CAMDEN, N.J. - Police said a man died Wednesday morning after falling into a tank full of chocolate at a Camden business.

Police were called to a warehouse and manufacturing facility on the 700 block of North 36th Street around 10:45 a.m. Wednesday for a report of a man who had fallen into hot chocolate.

The man had been in the melting pot for about 10 minutes by the time crews arrived, and by the time he was pulled out of the chocolate it was too late. He was declared dead shortly after 11 a.m.

The turnout gear of firefighters at the scene were covered with some chocolate, as were the clothes of an obviously distraught co-worker who was being consoled by an EMT. Th at co-worker appeared to have gone into the tank in an attempt to rescue the man who had fallen in.

According to public records, the building is owned by Lyons and Sons, and C & C Cola also does bottling at the facility. It's not clear exactly where the accident happened and how.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has been called in to investigate, Fox 29's Robin Taylor reported from the scene.

Was the employee's name Lady Myra LeJeanne?

I had an uncle that drowned in a vat of whiskey. They tried to rescue him 3 times but he fought them off bravely.

Oh, I forgot that one! LOL Thanks!

I took my kids to see them several years ago. I remember it a clean act for which I was thankful. One can be funny without the filth.

Watch out for those pumas!

You bet it will. I used to help my friend bottle their milk, once the vat had a fly in it, scoop it out and bottle anyway.

Then I worked in a theater, made popcorn. The always open oil vat had large roach floating, manager said scoop it out and continue. I never have eaten theater popcorn again.

I think the most surprising part of this story is that there is a business in Camden!

When I was a kid, Campbell Soup was in Camden.

I got paid %50 for a picture of him once; it was back in 1969 or 70 and I was at Laguna Seca covering a Trans-Am race and taking a shot of Mark Donahue and the awards person, unnoticed by me was Dick Smothers in the background and when the magazine came out they had cropped out everything but a cameo of Smothers and blew it up on the page next to the article and supplied their caption — sneaky, huh?

I went back to my contact sheet and there he was, as’little’ as life off in the corner.

The Smothers Brothers used to do a routine about a man who fell in a vat of chocolate and yelled “Fire,” because no one would react if he yelled “Chocolate.”

I slightly remember “I Fell In A Vat Of Chocolate”...sort of, it’s been a while (did I get the name right?). The Smothers Brothers were considered to be pretty avant uarde back in their day, weren’t they?

No. The entire vat will have to be destroyed and discarded and the insurance will replace it. Even if someone sticks one finger in the vat, out it goes. They’re very, very strict about that, or at least they used to be. [dredging up a memory from the early 1970’s]

In the steel mills if this would happen they make an ingot or something and dump it along the rivers edge

If anybody happened to see him fall in.
Depending on the alloy, steel melts 2500~2800°F,
So it would've been a good way to get rid of Jimmy Hoffa so they would NEVER find him.
