CAMDEN, N.J. - Police said a man died Wednesday morning after falling into a tank full of chocolate at a Camden business.
Police were called to a warehouse and manufacturing facility on the 700 block of North 36th Street around 10:45 a.m. Wednesday for a report of a man who had fallen into hot chocolate.
The man had been in the melting pot for about 10 minutes by the time crews arrived, and by the time he was pulled out of the chocolate it was too late. He was declared dead shortly after 11 a.m.
The turnout gear of firefighters at the scene were covered with some chocolate, as were the clothes of an obviously distraught co-worker who was being consoled by an EMT. Th at co-worker appeared to have gone into the tank in an attempt to rescue the man who had fallen in.
According to public records, the building is owned by Lyons and Sons, and C & C Cola also does bottling at the facility. It's not clear exactly where the accident happened and how.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has been called in to investigate, Fox 29's Robin Taylor reported from the scene.

Death by Chocolate.
Drowning and scalding to death is not the way I would want to go...
Augustus??
I bet I’m not the only person who remembers the old Smothers Brothers song.
Still, an awful way to go.
Shades of Augustus Gloop from “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory”
that guy’s pretty lucky.
Also a Smothers Brothers song from the sixties.
Geez, I’m old.
The one in the top left looks a bit like John Goodman; the one in the top right a little like Joe Lieberman.
LOL
Augustus was one of my favorites in the original movie.
Agreed...I had a friend from high school who was accidentally immersed in a hot asphalt dump. This death must have been similarly horrible.
You beat me to it.
He should have yelled “Fire!”
My sympathy for this man and his family . . . but does anyone else remember the Smothers Brothers’ song “I Fell Into a Vat of Chocolate”? (true title, folks)
As Tommy noted, when you fall into a vat of chocolate, you yell “FIRE!”
Why?
Because nobody will come if you yell “chocolate!”
He probably should have yelled “Fire” instead of “Chocolate” .....
Note to self: Don’t drink any C%C Cola for awhile.
Dang, you guys are fast...
Who wants to buy the chocolate product that will be produced by this chocolate vat?
It will be sold in some form.
