LJ, your list seemed to miss a very important "Perk of being over Sixty":

Major attention from TSA (Airport Security).
Ho boy, could I tell some stories of what humiliation I have endured
At the *literal* hands of Airport Security.

For All The Cat~People Of The Canteen
Cheyenne

It's not my fault that my tastes tend to run toward the high end
Amongst countless felines that just might begin to set a trend
Where others may enjoy soft upholstery, I prefer the touch of leather
That's very durable and manages to stay warm no matter what the weather
Made for languorous naps until My Pretty One is invited to be a guest
For some function or other where I will travel in the pocket of her vest
First class as it were, unless the time is short and begins to flag
That's when I'll quickly jump inside My Pretty One's spacious shoulder bag
With lots of strange things to play with to keep me occupied
For whatever is the duration of our adventurous walk or ride
There are tubes and sticks and flat fat disks to try pry apart
Which always seems to make our entrance begin with quite a start
As my posh conveyance slowly parts then quickly opens wide
Untold numbers of gentle fingers touch and stroke which I surely can abide
Taking my time to make introductions as elegantly as I can
So any and all will remember My Pretty One and her pampered pet, Cheyenne

Meg, that is so sweet! Friends are SO important, aren't they?
Friends Are Angels
Anonymous
Our friends are like angels
Who brighten our days
In all kinds of wonderful
Magical ways
Their thoughtfulness comes
As a gift from above
And we feel we're surrounded
By warm, caring love
Like upside-down rainbows
Their smiles bring the sun
And they fill ho-hum moments
With laughter and fun
Friends are like angels
Without any wings
Blessing our lives
With the most precious things
****************************
And, I thank you for being my friend!
To: Jack Deth
Awwwwwww....I WANT that one! She reminds me of my last kitty...a beautiful, if obstinate, Birman (from Burma). Strange spelling, but I did look it up! LOL!

Is that your cat? If not, I have to remember who I know has a cat named Cheyenne.
I love the poem, of course. You know the soul of a cat.
Thanks!

I have been out of business here for about an hour and a half.
A terrible storm blew up suddenly, winds terrible, scary, thunder, lightning and rain falling sidways due to high winds. Power failed....Had flashlights ready and candles handy. I was a bit fearful this evening.
Now I have to set all the clocks again, except one (my favorite). I was writing a post to Conor about another fallen hero when the storm hit. It could have been worse!
The poem haunts me as I’ve heard it recently....I liked it so much I guess it just stayed in my mind.

I have a friend who’s sister (elderly caucasian) was made to remove her prosthetic leg (in front of all passengers) so they could check for explosives. The woman was so humiliated and embarassed it took months for her to be able to even smile again.
To: Jack Deth
Loved the poem and that cat is just precious. I want it.
