Friendship Must Be Earned |
|
|
|
What a pathetic place this world would become If there were not such a thing as friendship? Friends come in different races, color, or breed, And form a trustworthy union that never bends, To offer us comfort and kindness in time of need, To shield us from disappointments and sorrows life sends. No matter how wealthy or successful we ever become, No fortune can ever begin To pay for a smile or touch of the hand From a gentle and loyal old-time friend. Though materialistic items can be readily purchased, Down through the years I have learned That money can not purchase a true friend, For sincere friendship has to be earned.

Billie, I love your little cowboy opening.
And, this little cowgirl is a cutie!

My pic may be ‘grainey’ - but yours is just plain nosey! ;-)
Lovely poem, though...........

If I Had Known
By Mary Carolyn Davies
IF I had known what trouble you were bearing;
What griefs were in the silence of your face;
I would have been more gentle, and more caring,
And tried to give you gladness for a space.
I would have brought more warmth into the place,
If I had known.
If I had known what thoughts despairing drew you;
(Why do we never try to understand?)
I would have lent a little friendship to you,
And slipped my hand within your hand,
And made your stay more pleasant in the land,
If I had known.

History Test Answers
Ancient Egypt was inhabited by mummies and they all wrote in hydraulics. They lived in the Sarah Dessert and travelled by Camelot. The climate of the Sarah is such that the inhabitants have to live elsewhere.
The Greeks were a highly sculptured people, and without them we wouldn't have history. The Greeks also had myths. A myth is a female moth.
Socrates was a famous Greek teacher who went around giving people advice. They killed him. Socrates died from an overdose of wedlock. After his death, his career suffered a dramatic decline.
It was an age of great inventions and discoveries. Gutenberg invented removable type and the Bible. Another important invention was the circulation of blood. Sir Walter Raleigh is a historical figure because he invented cigarettes and started smoking. And Sir Francis Drake circumcised the world with a 100 foot clipper.

Thank you, LJ. It is one of my favorites. The first time I read it, I memorized it. (Many, many years ago.)
When someone seems sad or lonely (or even mean spirited) it is a good one to remember. ((((Hugs!))))
To: MEG33
You are welcome Meg. Thank you for the appreciation. ((((Hugs!))))

Billie, I just wanted to thank you for your sweet comments to all of us for our small contributions. But one thing we do have fun doing it!
Yes we do! Hey...that reminds me of a certain fellow's cute song called
"Yes We Can"!
Bet you can't listen without snapping your fingers and tapping your toes. :)
To: jaycee
Billie, I had that ones commands in my files several months. Remember that I couldnt figure out how to put my message at bottom without getting it in the frame. Thats one reason I didnt post it a long time ago! Got that problem fixed with your help! LOL! I remember your asking how to do it. :) All a matter of when you turn off the table commands, isn't it? :)
To: jaycee

Thank you, jaycee. I've been looking for something to
go with that cute little guy, and thought it would work.
Most little kid 'cowboy' poems were too juvenile.
