Good evening and welcome to the new week's thread...

P-E Obama is expected to announce his "Economic Team" today - Monday, and - hold on to your wallets - heavy spending plans to "boost" the sagging economy.

Meanwhile rumors swirl around the kind of deal he has struck with Hillary about the State Dept. job.

On all fronts...we shall see...

I’m listening to my Jerry Ernst CD (”In Love And War””). Thank you for suggesting it (long, long ago.)

Just got back from the wood pile and took some logs to the ‘big house’ for tonight, gonna get to 36 degrees tonight here. We don’t get many stabs at making a fire to keep warm, kinda nice.

Sure hate these next 4 years coming, if you get my drift, it is going to be hard on us all.

Talk to you later.
Toby

Hello! How are you?

I appreciate the notes and encouragement y’all have sent me. The initial grief and saddness has lessened to a more manageable size. Thank you for your patience in letting me work through it.

Hubby and I went up this weekend to Huntsville. It was such a good trip. The only thing marring our visit there was that Lions Daughter needed her car back on Monday. So we determined to travel back Sunday night. We started at about 9:30 pm to make a 4 hour trip back home.

About half an hour above B’ham I called LD to see when she would need her car on Monday. I was thinking that if we were tired, we’d check into a hotel and finish the trip early on Monday.

Just below B’ham, I tell hubby that I’m really, REALLY tired and could we please check into a hotel. “No,” he says, “I’m fine.” So, we press on. We get into Auburn at 1:38 IN THE MORNING! I was very glad that I wasn’t driving. We would have been in the ditch. I didn’t dare sleep myself because hubby could have drifted off if someone wasn’t awake keeping him awake.

Last night I tell him that I that I was still wiped out and hadn’t fully rested yet. He sheepishly admits that the last 40 miles were pretty bad and that he almost pulled into a hotel. But he convinced himself that he could make it.

He has decided that the next time I ask to go to a motel, he is taking me to a motel. We’re just not as young as we used to be.

I know that hubby and I do a bit of traveling around the southeast but I didn’t realize how much. I needed a potty break and was kinda a bit hungry. So, I got hubby to stop at an Arby’s which is in a convenient stopping place for us. I went in, and THEY KNEW MY ORDER! LOL! I don’t even live in that town.

Jim, I finished my food shopping today. It was a bit on the crowded side. I was thinking of you. I hope your schedule isn’t too bad.

Thank you. The problems are not resolved yet. I’m just through the dark pain which accompanied the problems. Are you recovered from your marathon performances?

I ended up getting sick-ish, sore throat, achy etc. But I soldiered on. Now it's just a head cold.

So, no, I haven't exactly recovered entirely but I have 5 days now to do just that.

The last 2 months have been incredible, I've never worked so hard in my life. Now it's the big push for end of semester juries, Christmas programs etc. etc. etc. But even all of that will be easier than working full time and running to rehearsals every night.

Prayers lifted for your peace of mind.

I am picturing our 2 kids over there, swapping stories over iced coffee, as JT suggested.:)

Knowing our boys will be there at the same time, for a few months anyway, gives me some small measure of comfort; we can be each other's "battle buddy.":)

Yes. We’ll guard each other’s back. I think mothers face special challenges. This Monday JT will be having his physical for Special Forces. I have no doubt he’ll ace it.

Hubby seems to have brought back a cold from Huntsville. I made him drink a glass of orange juice tonight and then brought him a bowl of cream of chicken soup with noodles. Comfort food all the way. I think he’s been in bed most of the day.

The rest of the day he’s been at the computer polishing up the music he’s arranging for our family ensamble. We have a flute, oboe, A Sax, T Sax, Trumpet/Cornet, 2 French Horns and a String Bass. In between the dinner and dessert, we usher in the Christmas season by singing and playing carols.

Yep.

Although, I did have to cancel several lessons when we got to tech week/dress rehearsals/etc. But it's okay, they're used to it.:)

They understand the value, I think, of having a teacher who also performs. The kids are able to see what they can accomplish if they keep up the practicing; I love to tell them "I actually GET PAID to play the piano! Isn't that cool??!!!"

I've also kept up with the children's theatre but today was our last performance until after Christmas, thank goodness.
