To the moon, troll, to the moon!

[history]
During the cold war, JFK claimed to have gone to the moon. He got congress to spend billions on his moon landing and pretended america landed there, convincing congress to give him billions, the fakeness of the landing is well documented.
It seems to me that this liberal moneybags, that he took these billions for personal use, or maybe gave them to the USSR (we all know he was soft on communism)
Perhaps his death was similarly staged in order to keep his billions or keep congress of his case.
I wonder if under an obama administration we will see more moon landings.

I'd prefer just regular old electricity. However, NSP won't let me set up a nuclear pile in the back yard to ensure the juice stays running.
With some of the crap going on in the world, I want low-tech back ups for everything it takes to keep my family, warm, fed, and clean. I'm not going all "The End of the World is Nigh!" type thing, I just think it's neat.
Plus, last year at the inlaws Farm, they lost power for almost a week. Having to run everything off one generator was less than optimal.

Yes, and you have to be careful with generators. A family in my Girl Scout troop made a mistake with theirs about five years ago and burned their house down.

I have most, if not quite, everything I need to run a house ca. 1790...except where I live now I have no fireplace...sigh...but I do have about 4 different fire pits and braziers for burning stuff out in the back yard.
It is kind of fun.

Run ‘em only outdoors, connect ‘em to your power mains using appropriate gauge wire, and keep an eye on ‘em.

Thanks...my wife loves it, too. In fact, two of her brothers built it.

I’m in the process of building a fireplace right now. It is all boxed in ready for the cultured stone application. It has been operable for a while now to insure acceptable operation before rocking it in permanently.

Good idea. You don’t want it to smoke up the house.

Oh, life is unfair. Wednesday wants me to go to bed with her, but I have to go practice with one of my choir members. She’ll just have to make do with Shannon.

Ye gods, man! Just walk up the stairs!
How can you be so lazy? From where I sit (or sat), the only stairs up lead to Heaven. What are you suggesting?

"Im in the process of building a fireplace right now. It is all boxed in ready for the cultured stone application." Seeing how well you've done everything else, I'll assume you provided a source of outside air for burning in the fireplace.
A fireplace without such a source of outside air has to consume your nice warm house air and send it up the chimney.

Clever! I never think about these things, so it’s probably good that we don’t have a fireplace.
