BLITZER: Let me bring Donna in on the whole issue of [Sen. Obama] being a community organizer. Now we know a lot of those community organizers are in the big urban areas and there are some suggesting that when they—when the Republicans, whether Giuliani or Sarah Palin went after Obama for being a community organizer there was a racial overtone there. Do you believe that?

BRAZILE: First of all, I don’t think they understand the role of a community organizer, often to help people who are in distress, they’ve lost their jobs, they’ve lost their homes, they’ve lost their health care. And for many of us, it’s a time honored tradition to give back, especially those who have been rewarded with so much.

The Bible says to whom much is given much is required and it comes out of that tradition. So it was insulting to see both, you know, the governor as well as Mayor Giuliani criticize people. There’s some on the Internet now that Jesus was a community organizer, Pontius Pilate was a governor. And perhaps they should understand the role of a community organizer, do help people in distress.

Technically, JUDAS was the community organizer. He was the liaison between the people and the government, for a modest fee of 30 pieces of silver.

Good point. Wasn't Judas also the one always sent ahead to make preparations?

> “Jesus was a Community Organizer”

He was no such thing.

He was a preacher of the Gospel, a healer, a worker of miracles.

Jesus said, “Seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and its righteousness.”

Is that what Obama is teaching?

Unlike Jesus, “Community Organizers” like Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, and Barrack Obama, enrich themselves, fatten their portfolios, and live large on salaries, perks and graft provided by “community organizations” funded by grants from tax payers and liberal white-guilt foundations to perform social experiments that ALWAYS FAIL on those least able to defend themselves against such.

Worse, they are often the core catalysts of politically-motivated riots.

Jesus never encouraged rebellion.

Following Jesus often exacted costs upon the believer.

Jesus’ followers did not see their lot in life improve because of their faith, but often it worsened, even to the point of imprisonment, unspeakable torture, and death.

Compare the way Jesus lived, and the things He said, to the way Obama-bin-Biden live and the things they say.

What a pathetic comparison.

Jesus sought/seeks to lift our souls to God.

Obama seeks to lift our wallets to Washington.

Senator Obama, I serve Jesus Christ. I know Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is a friend of mine. Senator, you’re no Jesus Christ.

Kind of reminds me of Whoopi who said Palin and republicans are scary because they kind of remind her of Nazis.

I guess Whoopi doesn’t know Hitler had babies with Down Syndrome killed, as Liberals would.

Palin gave life to a Down Syndrome baby and calls him perfect.

The link between Obama and godhood is complete. Now instead of merely thinking it, they are publicly proclaiming it.

Yes, please, let us have this discussion.

If Jesus was a “community organizer”, what “community” did he “organized” and by what beliefs and behavior can we tell those people from others?

Let me count the ways, starting with the Ten Commandments.

For those who are only familiar with them as a icon of what the followers of Jesus want to “impose” on others, they can be found in Exodus chapter 20, which is towards the very front of most Bibles.

The Ten offer a wonderfullt succinct summary of the values taught by Jesus. Indeed, he made direct reference to them in his sayings. But with respect to the current debate, we can look at three of the ten, the ones that forbid LIES, COVETING AND THEFT.

Again, as the things that Jesus said that touch on the current election, the Bible says that people who love and teach lies cannot inherit eternal life. That is found in the last chapter of the last book, in Revelation 22:15.

Right there, we can be relieved to know that some day, everyone we now see who loves and practices lies, even if it is for a purpose they think is good, will not be around much longer.

Jesus says in Revelation chapter 2 and 3 that one of the ways you will know of his followers is that they “cannot tolerate evil”, they “persist steadfastly”, they “cling to my name”, they have “love, faith, service and steadfast endurance”.

This does not sound at all like a Chicago neighborhood receiving handouts from government.

Let’s see now...

Obama compares himself to the Messiah, but he isn’t.

That’s a bit like the Antichrist, isn’t it? And the Beast, too — isn’t the Beast and the Antichrist on the same side?

Right. Now for the False Prophet... could it be AlGore?

Spooky stuff!

Actually, Obama impresses me as more of an Old Testament guy.

Advertisements for meetings with him could be advertised as "Come jawbone with an ass."

Pilate was indeed the governor. But it was the chief priests of the Jews that were the community organizers, as Mark 15:11 reminds us:

9 "Do you want me to release to you the king of the Jews?"
asked Pilate, 10 knowing it was out of envy that the chief
priests had handed Jesus over to him. 11 But the chief
priests stirred up the crowd to have Pilate release
 Barabbas instead.

Adolf Hitler was a community organizer-his beer hall putsch was an example of his “community organizing”.

Exactly! My dad had a PhD in theology and I can not remember a single instance Christ “oraganized” the community to do anything. Poeple followed him around out of love, devotion, curiosity, and the likes.

Jesus spoke out AGAINST organized religion. Had Obama ever opened a Bible and read it, he’s know that.

Soooo.. that means to me Obama did zero organizing. :>)

The Disciple Matthew was a “Tax Collector” before following Jesus and seeing the error in his ways. Here's a bumper sticker idea - “Matthew, the original Reagan Democrat”.

“Pilate was indeed the governor. But it was the chief priests of the Jews that were the community organizers, as Mark 15:11 reminds us:”

Very well thought out point. The whole seen was brilliantly played out in the movie The Passion, and done so I think probably very accurately.

"Jesus was a Community Organizer, Pontius Pilate was a Governor"

This brings to mind California Governor Pat Brown's statement, in apparent reference to to his opponent for re-election, actor Ronald Reagan, that "it was an actor who shot Lincoln."
