BLITZER: Let me bring Donna in on the whole issue of [Sen. Obama] being a community organizer. Now we know a lot of those community organizers are in the big urban areas and there are some suggesting that when theywhen the Republicans, whether Giuliani or Sarah Palin went after Obama for being a community organizer there was a racial overtone there. Do you believe that?
BRAZILE: First of all, I dont think they understand the role of a community organizer, often to help people who are in distress, theyve lost their jobs, theyve lost their homes, theyve lost their health care. And for many of us, its a time honored tradition to give back, especially those who have been rewarded with so much.
The Bible says to whom much is given much is required and it comes out of that tradition. So it was insulting to see both, you know, the governor as well as Mayor Giuliani criticize people. Theres some on the Internet now that Jesus was a community organizer, Pontius Pilate was a governor. And perhaps they should understand the role of a community organizer, do help people in distress.
I am still looking for a job description of a "Community Organizer" that includes roles and responsibilities. I am a little league baseball coach. I have been coaching 4-6 year olds for longer than Obama has been in the Senate. I could spend about 10 minutes listing the roles and responsibilities of being a volunteer little league baseball coach. If I don't show up for practice or a game, people get upset. If the kids don't learn something and have fun, parents voice their frustrations.
My point here is, Community Organizer sounds like a "volunteer." Who depended on him and for what? Who did he answer to? What stressful responsibility did he have? What did he manage? These questions should not be hard to answer.
I saw something on MSNBC where they were talking about how all community organizers should be outraged by the political cynicism of asking what a community organizer does. They said that republicans have ostracized all community organizers. Nobody suggested that these folks weren't noble and rigthteous folks. But how does being a community organizer qualify a person to be President of the USA? Just answer the question.
The real meat of the issue is how does being a "community organizer" qualify someone to be the President of The United States of America?
Also, Obama wasn't even a good community organizer because I don't recall any mention of him ever helping anyone get even a job.
