The Legend of Pussy Willows
by Dot McGinnis

A Polish legend tells the tale
Of tiny kittens, oh, so frail.

Along the river's edge they chased.
With butterflies, they played and raced.

They came too close to the river's side
And, thus, fell in. Their mother cried.

What could she do but weep and moan?
Her babies’ fate were yet unknown.

The willows, by the river, knew
Just what it was that they must do.

They swept their graceful branches down
Into the waters, all around.

To reach the kittens was their goal;
A rescue mission, heart and soul.

The kittens grasped the branches tight.
The willows saved them from their plight.

Each springtime since, the story goes,
Willow branches now wear clothes.

Tiny fur like buds are sprung
Where little kittens once had clung.

And that’s the legend, so they claim,
How Pussy Willows Got Their Name!

I'm so excited about getting a new kitty. He is sooo huggable.

Thank you for the cute kitty pictures.
I love the poems that gramma read to me.
My eyes got water in them when I watched the movie.

Hugs to all my FRiends.

**She had asked a dozen times for a new kitten**

Just be glad she’s not horse crazy like I was at her age and for many years after! Drove my parents nuts!

**I told Marissa they would go to animal heaven.**

Good answer! I’m with whoever said—if I get to the gates of Heaven and there’s a sign that says “No Dogs Allowed” I’ll just keep going!

Great graphics and poems as always—probably won’t have time to do much except lurk for the next while but thanks in advance for all the wonderful work you guys do!

Hey! Can we have chocolate day again—every day?! Not that I’m greedy or anything! LOL Hope y’all enjoy the hot fudge sundae cake!

Ping! I don’t know if you were able to check these links, GG, but God was pretty specific about loving the creatures of earth. (post #998).

(And, I’m with you. If no pets are at the gate in Heaven, I’ll move on. (((((((((Garden Girl)))))))))

My daughter and I love puzzles. We have a bunch that look like your picture. I think they’re called bubble flower or something similiar.

I was at work when I saw your post. Thanks for reminding me! I know better than to open anything like taht at work. It’s hard enough to explain to family why I’m crying. I can just see me trying to explain that to my boss/customers!

Thanks for the hugs! Right back at you!

Oh, Amy, I'm Sorry for what Happened to Pinkie. :( I've Shed Uncountable Tears over the Years for Every Friend of mine I've Lost; So Many Beloved Pets, Each One Special in his/her Own Way.

I've Always had Kitties or Dogs, except for my Sweet Bird, Nick; he was the Cutest Little Thing, a Society Finch, and he had Markings on the Top of his head that Looked just Like a Pair of Sunglasses was Sitting there! He Used to Love to Eat Little Bits of Apple I would Cut Up for him, and he had the Prettiest Little Two-Part Song he would Sing whenever I would Whistle at him. When he Became Older, he Forgot the Second Half of the Song. I had him for 8 Years, and when he Passed Away I was Inconsolable. I've Never Gotten another Bird Since then.

All these Special Friends Sure Tugs on our Heart Strings.

GG - I tried to find a dalmation for you, but no such luck. Here is a doggie puzzle called ‘Happy Dog’. You can change the cut and number by clicking on “Change Cut” on the left of the page.

Have fun!

KM, I am so sorry about Nick One thing I can say is this:

Nick was one lucky bird to have you for his momma!

Our ‘creature’ friends bless us as much as we bless them!

Thanks for stopping in when you have time, Gardengirl.

It is always good to see you.

Our new cat was not ready tonight. We were planning to be gone most of tomorrow afternoon and early evening. I hope they call so we can pick him up in the morning.

Marissa will be really disappointed if we can’t get him until Saturday!

She loves this kitty graphic.

She asked if she could keep it, so I saved it in her pictures.

Thanks, Kitty.

We didn’t get the cat tonight. I hope they call early tomorrow. Marissa was really disappointed.

I wasn’t even crazy about the Pinkie, but it really tore at my heart when we lost her.

She was cute. When she would get out of her cage she would come to whichever room we were in. I think she truly enjoyed humans.

Losing a beloved pet of any kind hurts. But the love and enjoyment they give makes up for the heartache.
