this weeks "navy times" came out. it had the usual articles in it. one very touching one about the last carrier operations of the f-14s. then.....
Never been around the USAF....
I suspect you're a troll, because you obviously are a troll. Or else you're just cluess. Most likely both.
I walked to the end of the pier to smoke in the designated area for the last four years I was in the Navy, and I got out in '97. Life's a bitch. Get over it. Plus, it's good exercise if you're parked at the opposite end of the pier.
Consuming alcoholic beverages on or off base has been restricted to 21 years of age since...oh...1986. Before that, 18-21 could only drink 3/2 beer. It's the law. Again, get over it.
Lastly, if you listen carefully and ask the right questions, you may discover what the money from those $150 toilet seats and $50 hammers is really used for.
Baloney..I spent 14 years in the army until I was injured in Iraq and the discipline of the force hasnt changed that much, the worst time of disciplinary problems I can remember was the last half of Clintons presidency...and most it had to do with disgust at the dont ask dont tell policy and the dunding issues that often caused us to be without vital supplies at the endo f every fiscal year.
And this breaking you speak of was only moderately effective in the early 90's as it is today...when you get an all volunteer force you tend to not attract those who need to be totally rebuilt..they are there because they want to be and expect such treatment..
Dang, there you go screwing up again!
FR is not a blog.
Yep the title should read "CANDY ASS POLITICALLY CORRECT LEADERSHIP.
It bugs me when I see soldiers carded in the PX for buying Skoal. It just ain't right that they return from Iraq to be treated like children.
NAVY TIMES like the ARMY TIMES is a Lefty publication. So many magazines that float around Fort Benning are politically on the Left. Of course soldiers still read PLAYBOY (hopefully just look at the pics and not actually read the anti-American articles). Then there is MENS HEALTH which I consider hedonistic, subversive, kooky, and to use the trendy phrase "metro-sexual". The local newspaper here even sides with the hippie November protestors against their own Fort Benning. Fortunately many soldiers read Guns and Ammo, Shotgun News, The Holy Bible, Dixie Living, and some other good stuff.
Which is why you are so pitiful. Of course, why ask for that which you could never earn on your own merits, right?
what i am surprised to find, is the monumental amount of arrogance and self righteousness on this site.
Then feel free to leave anytime. Or maybe it's your "right" to be here, huh?
it does explain why i don't recognize most of you. bloggers tend to run into each other from site to site. seems many of you are just hanging out here stroking each other.
Wrong again. Most of us have real jobs and families with precious little time to waste on "blogging". We come here to be informed and debate our opinions, not so much to socialize. We have real lives to live.
BTW, I'm retired military. I've seen far more hypocrisy and absurdity after 25 years in the military (and in the last 12 years of corporate life as well) than your little indulgent rant exposes. Why don't you ask a few jihadists how candy-ass they think our military has become?
Your stupid comments only expose your youth, inexperience, and immaturity all because some perceived "unfairness" has struck your hyper-developed sense of injustice.
Are you sure you're not my teenage daughter??
rider237, one thing for sure you have provided much laughter from my end by starting this thread and by proving that at least you are not an example of what you refer to as candy a$$. Hang in there rider!
Ummm...last time I was at a PX they carded everybody who wasnt in uniform(been the rule since before I joined)..otherwise most soldiers werent carded when buying tobacco products. Plus remember even though AAFES is on a post they still have to abide by state and local laws about alcohol and tobacco purchases, so it really isnt Post or military policy most of the time.
The VA will help with your therapy, you know.
he's right and you're wrong. CAP'S has been introduced into the internet.. in it's early stages or for that matter as late as the ancient year of 2000 many persons didn't use caps.. It was considered poor manners and time consuming...BTW I consider the new policies being candyass as well.. Then again I came from a much less PC Navy that perfumed princes in office and the Pentagon had not quite destroyed yet...Texas Jacks in Palma, Spain and a Texas Fireball was considered S.O.P. then again so was men only on combat ships...
Actually I remember several persons in FR who once used only low case letters in their post...BTW 4 grammar mistakes in your post...
Corn Flakes wouldn't sell without attractive and acceptable packaging.
Likewise, article format should respect the mores of the particular forum and the intended audience.
Aside, it sounds, unfortunately, like the Navy has another Adm. Zumwalt, of PC "Z-Gram" fame, surfacing (no pun)....

Pretty funny. You just signed up here, and you're already insulting the long-time members of Free Republic.
I predict a short stay for you.
Do me a favor and go back and read what I was replying to on that. THen you will realize why I replied to her as such.
"Your stupid comments only expose your youth, inexperience, and immaturity all because some perceived "unfairness" has struck your hyper-developed sense of injustice."
Whoa and slow down! I've been following this thread since the beginning. Its amusing and refreshing and I think your outright, unhinged hostility here is a little uncalled for.
You want to see stupid, look in the mirror.
The reply was targeted for the original poster, not you. Sorry!
ALso I am not insulted by the fact that you pointed out my grammar mistakes..unlike she was.
retired military. AF?
i have you figured for one of those retired paper pushers that never picked up a weapon except for required famfire.
you do like to go around with your chest puffed out saying "when i was in the military....."!
wes clark is retired militery...i don't think much of him either.
I wasn't insulted ...
