Sorry that I missed everyone last night.

We had a nice rally but it was cold. We only had 8 Freepers there but it was good to get together anyway.

After the rally we went to dinner; by the time I got home, I didn't feel like Freeping.

Your Eyes Slide Past

We pass each other in the hall.
There’s little that we say.
Subtle changes have become,
More calcified each day.

There was a time once, once upon,
Your hand would squeeze my own.
As we would walk about the day,
You shared my Regal throne.

For I was King, then, of your heart,
Now I feel cast aside.
You shun your former lover,
And stroll around with Pride.

Your eyes slide past me as they seek,
The next one for your hand.
The tests that I would task, they’d fail,
For many a distant land.

You are a Princess of this Realm,
And all your suitors vex me.
I think it best to see them gone,
Until someone corrects me.

Yes, someday I must yield your hand,
To someone too ill-suited.
So far, my instincts have recoiled,
Each candidate stands polluted.

I must accommodate myself,
To that benighted day,
When I must tear my heart in half,
And give my soul away.

Before that happens I would ask,
For one more time again,
You let me hold you like a child,
And shed my years and then,

My arms must wrap around you tight,
My lips must seek you, too.
My voice must echo in your ears,
My child, my child, I love you.
