I could ask him. I don't know how busy he is at work. Even if he gets an estimate for me, I don't know if I can keep a disreputable place from sticking to the price. They could tell me "well we had to do some extra work that wasn't included in the estimate."
I figured I'd call the dealership, a place the owner at a Christian bookstore goes to (though I don't know if they do transmission work), and the tranny shop the mechanics of my last car recommend. Also my next door neighbor has a tow service, maybe he could recommend a place.
I've driven my last 2 cars for 10+ years. I just kept repairing them past the time of repairing them. I was hoping I wouldn't have to through that for a while on a new car.

The low mileage is what bothers me that the car needs this major repair so soon.
It may be a lower mileage because I worked only temp jobs for about a year.
Do you drive your vehicle for work?

Okay, called dealership on break, they were busy and have not called back yet.
Called a tranny shop. He said it may be the hydraulic system and wants to look at it before giving an estimate. Asked me if it's making noise which I'm starting to hear now. : (
Called the mechanic shop and they don't do that type of work.
