OK, try this. (BTW, note all these boxers -- or related poems -- are short.)
Boxer's Wife
She phoned them when the Round was Eight:
'How is my Joe?' they heard her say.
They answered: 'Gee! He's going great,
Your guy's Okay.'
She phoned them when the Round was Nine:
'How is my hero in the fray?'
They yelled: 'He leads; he's doing fine,
Joe's sure Okay.'
She phoned them when the Round was Ten:
'Is it still Okay with my Joe?'
Reluctant came the answer then,
No Ma'am, KAYO.

Poem for new puppy owners
Dont smell crotches, dont eat plants,
Dont steal food or underpants,
Dont eat my socks, dont grab my hair,
DONT RIP THE STUFFING FROM THAT CHAIR!
Dont eat those peas, dont touch that bush,
Dont chew my shoes, what is this mush?!?!
Eat your own cookies, drink your own drink,
Outta the toilet! Outta the sink!
AWAY FROM THE LITTER BOX ITS FOR THE CAT!
(and must you lick me after that?)
Raising a puppy is not for the lazy,
Those rugrats are funny but also quite crazy.
Dont despair through the toil and the strife,
Cause after three years youll get back your life!
So lets go out for walkies, so you can do your "thing",
And maybe Ill get back my diamond ring!

The Boxer
(You Da Man)
Boxing is the sport of kings
You can have your baseball, football or hockey
With their bling-bling championship rings
Boxing is the sport of Rocky
The victors wear a big shiny belt
A battle of one on one
Until their body is a complete welt
No helmets or shoulder pads
Sissies need not apply
Protecting only their gonads
Let's see other athletes give it a try
Two souls pounding away
Blood, sweat and from one's eye a tear
Coming in second is the only fear
As tough as an ox
Moves like a ballet dancer
Smart as a fox
As destructive as cancer
No pinch hitter, no second-string quarterback or backup goalie
The boxer depends on himself solely
To hurt their opponent and knock him down
Relentless and brutal describes their behavior
All in an effort to win the crown
And when it's all done, they thank their savior
-- Anson Pine

The Puglists, in shorts
The Non-Violent Boxer
He came from nowhere. The quickest ducker in the world. The fastest chin in existence. The non-violent boxer, just deeking and dodging, while his opponent flails away. Thwip! Thwip! Look at that guy move! Look at the way he pops that lightbulb-like head straight down, almost as though into some turtle hole in the top of his torso. Shhzooopp! And a fist cuts through naked air, the little guy's legs shooting wide apart. Five rounds and he hasn't been touched.
If you listen you can hear him over the ring mike trying to persuade his opponent. "Do you think it would be a victory if you beat me?" Thwip! "That would be just one more loss for both of us." Thwip! Thwip! "The greatest victory of all is in our grasp, but I need you my brother." Thwip! Thwip! Thwip! Thwip! Thwip!

THE BOXER
by Simon and Garfunkel
I am just a poor boy and my storys seldom told
Ive squandered my resistance for a pocketful of mumbles, such are promises
All lies and jest, still the man hears what he wants to hear
And disregards the rest, hmmmm
When I left my home and my family, I was no more than a boy
In the company of strangers
In the quiet of the railway station, runnin scared
Laying low, seeking out the poorer quarters, where the ragged people go
Looking for the places only they would know
Li la li...
Asking only workmans wages, I come lookin for a job, but I get no offers
Just a comeon from the whores on 7th avenue
I do declare, there were times when I was so lonesome
I took some comfort there
Now the years are rolling by me, they are rockin even me
I am older than I once was, and younger than Ill be, thats not unusual
No it isnt strange, after changes upon changes, we are more or less the same
After changes we are more or less the same
Li la li...
And Im laying out my winter clothes, wishing I was gone, goin home
Where the new york city winters arent bleedin me, leadin me to go home
In the clearing stands a boxer, and a fighter by his trade
And he carries the reminders of every glove that laid him down or cut him
til he cried out in his anger and his shame
I am leaving, I am leaving, but the fighter still remains
Yes he still remains
Li la li...

"I like it! (Does hopping count?)" Of course! It's only a skip away from jump.
It has a lot of energy! I don't think you could dance to it, but I bet you could sing!
