Your mom and family continue in my prayers. I take it they feel confident enough that she can wait until Monday. It may not be a bad thing.......

From your link:

"Many key al-Zarqawi figures have been "whacked," one official told FOX News, citing the missile strike that took out al-Zarqawi's spiritual guide and advisor late last week."

Gee, whatever will he do without his spiritual guide? /s

I know there aren't many from MI at ATRW, but I so enjoyed this e-mail from our state GOP Chair, Betsy DeVos, that I'm posting it here anyway (maybe a MI lurker will see it) :-)

LET'S REGISTER HIM !
Last week was the 21st visit by POTUS since his election. Can we register him
as a Michigan voter? We're after every voter possible! Oct 4 is the deadline.
It was so great having the President in my hometown (Holland) last week. He
gets better and better. It was the loudest crowd heard to date.

ROLLIN, POTUS STYLE...
Had the opportunity to ride with him on the bus to Battle Creek. That was very
cool. Watching the President in action made me even more fired up about what we
are doing here. But talk about the hot seat...the President knows his Michigan
election statistics. Lots of questions. He and Karl Rove mentioned what was
later confirmed in the press, that BC04 is increasing their advertising budget
for Michigan. They are very bullish on Michigan.

KERRY - FLAT ...
Went to Kerry's speech at the Detroit Economic Club last week. It was billed as
his big economic plan unveiling. I guess that's what you call attempts to hide
20 years of voting for tax-hikes and radical job-killing environmental policies.
The speech and the whole event were truly awful. The national reporters gave
Kerry a pass on it by not reporting on how dour and stilted his delivery was. I
know that I'm biased, but very honestly...it was bad. Attendance was very
weak... they had to bus a bunch of students in, and even then the room wasn't
nearly full. I think there were more reporters than Detroiters there.

MICHIGAN DEMOCRATS ... GRUMPY
I saw Democrat Chair Mark Brewer at the Kerry speech. It seemed to upset
him...which I enjoyed. He actually said, "I don't know, look it up," when asked
about Kerry's claim to have started a small business. I guess when you're on
the brink of losing for the first time in 16-years you start to get rough around
the edges. The Governor was also less than happy 1) that I was in attendance
and 2) that Kwame Kilpatrick, Detroit Mayor, showed up on the dais in the middle
of her introduction of John Kerry. Response to her remarks was tepid. I get
the sense that her act is wearing a little thin... I think we have a great
chance to replace her in a couple years.

THESE BOOTS WERE MADE FOR WALKIN'....
I'm scheduled to do some door to door and phone calls in the next few days. Are
you? We need you. Give your closest Victory Center Director a call and get
plugged in. (See http://www.migop.org/contact_us.asp for more contact info).

PARTING THOUGHT...
Looks to me as if Bush may be the last President Dan Rather will have a chance
to report on....

-- I'm out.

Courage....

Betsy

I think it was Dennis Prager that was saying the strike that took out al-Zarqawi's spiritual guide and advisor was a "MAJOR VICTORY IN THE WAR ON TERROR that you will not hear about in the liberal media."

It also helps explain to me why the Legion of Demons inhabiting al-Zarqawi unleashed their evil with the 2 recent savage butcherings/sacrifices to Satan of 2 fine, beloved American Citizens.

What a neat and informative e-mail from your chair! Thanks for sharing...we know so little about local conditions in other states, so it is good to get information from sources like this. Thanks!

I was relieved to read the part about them being bullish enough to increase the advertising budget here. One of my beefs has been that I've been seeing way too many anti-Bush ads on tv, and not the pro-Bush ones. That could be contributing to the poor showing of MI in the polls lately. That could be about to change.

Last year (and a couple years before that) my daughter's school was LOCKED up all day starting at 8:05AM. Parents and others coming later than that have to ring the doorbell and someone from the office walks about 80 feet toward the door to let them in.

This year, the principal has decided to even lock up the gate of the parking lot, and he patrols the doors starting about 8, and locks them himself. All the time a visitor of any type is in the building this year, they have to be escorted. I think Beslan is a good part of the reason, and I'm happy for that.

Prayers continue for your Mom, Jim.

I believe it is unconscionable that "Kookie Annan" made the statement about the Iraqi war being ILLEGAL!!!! it is a blatant endorsement of sKerry!!! I do hope the RNC will put that into an ad. I sincerely believe sKerry would turn our military over to UN control. I am listening to him bloviate right now about how he would manage our military - HAH!!! What a unadulterated jackass!!!!!

Did you hear Tarrahza say the following yesterday? When in Arizona and asked what she thought about her husband falling in the polls in Arizona? I heard it played over and over again on Laura Ingraham's show, so I have it exactly:

"Who cares, you know? One state is not a whole state."

IF ONLY, IF ONLY, IF ONLY, EVERY SINGLE ARIZONA VOTER COULD HEAR THAT!

#$^&!^&!&#%^! the demoCRAT party for putting this kind of REFUSE on the ballot!!

#%^@$&*@&^ the demoCRAT party!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just got done taking my granddaughter in the stroller around her neighborhood. It is a quiet established neighborhood built between 1935 to 1955, with tall trees and lots of interesting landscape. We count doggies and squirrels as we stroll around.

I got to thinking about how different my life is from a woman in Islamic countries. I have a degree. I drive a car. I was wearing shorts and a t-shirt with no head-covering. We count dogs because they are honored pets, not whipped mongrels that scavenge on the outskirts of a village. There are trees, and flowers, and green grass. No one thinks anything of me walking by myself, without an escort. And no one in the neighborhood is blowing people up.

We are very, very fortunate to live in this country, and we must NOT elect someone like Kerry, who, as Two-thirds says, will get us all killed...and will run the country into the ground while doing so.

Excellent Post.

Sadly, I'm just passing thru and must return my nose to the grind stone.

I just downloaded the Senate Intelligence Report onto my computer and now don't know where it is :-)

The computer chose Internet Explorer as a place to put this PDF file. Now what do I do to actually bring up the report?

I have no idea how to help you. This is one of the great mysteries of my computer. I know there are files on there that should be deleted (old down-loaded pictures, for example). Whenever I try to delete them, I can't find them. When my husband is looking for his resume or something, he will find a bunch of my files by accident, while looking for his resume which seems to migrate to different areas of the computer.

I visualize my computer's files as a large junk drawer.

Since it has chosen IE, what you must do is open IE. Hit "stop" to stop the homepage from being brought up. IT isn't really necessary to do that, but it might save a second or two. Then click on "file" in the upper left hand corner of the toolbar. Go to "Open" and then "Browse." Search for the file from wherever it has been saved. You do this IF it was saved as a web page.

If it has been saved as a *.pdf file in the IE folder, I would go to "Start," then "Find". I'd open "files or folders." Then, I would have it search for "*.pdf". Of the pdf files it returns I would double-click on the correct file.

It's easier to show you what to do than to type it.
