From your link:
"Many key al-Zarqawi figures have been "whacked," one official told FOX News, citing the missile strike that took out al-Zarqawi's spiritual guide and advisor late last week."
Gee, whatever will he do without his spiritual guide? /s
I know there aren't many from MI at ATRW, but I so enjoyed this e-mail from our state GOP Chair, Betsy DeVos, that I'm posting it here anyway (maybe a MI lurker will see it) :-)
LET'S REGISTER HIM !
Last week was the 21st visit by POTUS since his election. Can we register him
as a Michigan voter? We're after every voter possible! Oct 4 is the deadline.
It was so great having the President in my hometown (Holland) last week. He
gets better and better. It was the loudest crowd heard to date.
ROLLIN, POTUS STYLE...
Had the opportunity to ride with him on the bus to Battle Creek. That was very
cool. Watching the President in action made me even more fired up about what we
are doing here. But talk about the hot seat...the President knows his Michigan
election statistics. Lots of questions. He and Karl Rove mentioned what was
later confirmed in the press, that BC04 is increasing their advertising budget
for Michigan. They are very bullish on Michigan.
KERRY - FLAT ...
Went to Kerry's speech at the Detroit Economic Club last week. It was billed as
his big economic plan unveiling. I guess that's what you call attempts to hide
20 years of voting for tax-hikes and radical job-killing environmental policies.
The speech and the whole event were truly awful. The national reporters gave
Kerry a pass on it by not reporting on how dour and stilted his delivery was. I
know that I'm biased, but very honestly...it was bad. Attendance was very
weak... they had to bus a bunch of students in, and even then the room wasn't
nearly full. I think there were more reporters than Detroiters there.
MICHIGAN DEMOCRATS ... GRUMPY
I saw Democrat Chair Mark Brewer at the Kerry speech. It seemed to upset
him...which I enjoyed. He actually said, "I don't know, look it up," when asked
about Kerry's claim to have started a small business. I guess when you're on
the brink of losing for the first time in 16-years you start to get rough around
the edges. The Governor was also less than happy 1) that I was in attendance
and 2) that Kwame Kilpatrick, Detroit Mayor, showed up on the dais in the middle
of her introduction of John Kerry. Response to her remarks was tepid. I get
the sense that her act is wearing a little thin... I think we have a great
chance to replace her in a couple years.
THESE BOOTS WERE MADE FOR WALKIN'....
I'm scheduled to do some door to door and phone calls in the next few days. Are
you? We need you. Give your closest Victory Center Director a call and get
plugged in. (See
http://www.migop.org/contact_us.asp for more contact info).
PARTING THOUGHT...
Looks to me as if Bush may be the last President Dan Rather will have a chance
to report on....
-- I'm out.
Courage....
