Check in tomorrow for the sequel. It is very good!!
The picnic was lots of fun; we had a nice group. This year we had a least 10 children ..... that made the picnic special.
Also, DiverDave read the narrative for the "Table Set for One". That was very moving.

Thank you, Diva, for reminding us that today is National POW MIA Day.
Remember them in your prayers today.
Also remember to pray for our young men and women who are making sacrifices today to ensure our Freedoms.

Saw a few athletes who couldn't quite get it right.
Quit watching after a bit.
Was excruciating to observe.

That was my thought also. I think it was one of the rowing team that looked like he was belting it out, though.

"Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes, ..." Those of you who get the chance, when visiting Baltimore, should stop at Ft. McHenry.
It addition to being a fine example of the star fortresses which were developed in response to cannon, Fort McHenry has on display some of the period weaponry. The larger cannons at the fort were able to fire several miles out to sea, but the British fleet stayed out of their range to fire on the fort!
There is also a fine view of the harbor, and the city-scape. Whatever else it may be, Baltimore has a long, interesting, and for the most part, noble history in the growth of the United States.

(Okay! I've relented and updated my about page. It's disgustingly mercenary now. Make me rich.)

My sis saw the rowing team.
Saw the judge DQ one o four swimmers for supposedly an illegal turn, and then he gave a different answer when asked why he DQ'd the guy.
The judge got caught being a jerk, and the DQ was overturned.
He didn't state the reason in english as the rules state, and he gave a different reason from what he first stated..
*snicker*

I remember something about someone not stating something in English. Why didn't they make him repeat it in English?

Check in tomorrow for the sequel. It is very good!! I know it will be. I do check in every day - I really do. I guess I just don't manage my time online very well - feel bad when I only make one post to say hello and don't even do that every day. I read most of the posts and smile, and truly appreciate the compliments on my welcome graphics and love how the poems so perfectly fit the picture! I think Amy's Place is such a neat group of people!

When they did, he stated a different reason than the one he initiially said.
That's why they overturned his disqualification.

I read the Fresno picnic thread - loved seeing all the pictures and so glad the weekend was another huge success! Thanks, Billie. It was, mainly due to Amy's hard work in putting it all together! And, now that we have settled upon the second Friday and Saturday in September for our "Annual FR Rally and Picnic", we are hoping that FReepers from far and wide will be able to plan ahead, make the trip to Fresno and join us, if not next year, then the next year. :-)

Thank you for the nice compliment.
The Amy's Place FReepers are not only neat but very talented!
I have not been spending as much time here recently as I should be.
Thank you for all you do for Amy's Place.

Oozing charm from evry pore
He oiled his way around the floor.
Evry trick that he could play,
He used to strip her mask away.
And when at last the dance was done,
He glowed as if he knew hed won!
And with a voice to eager,
And a smile too broad,
He announced to the hostess
That she was ... a fraud!

You continue to give me all the credit for the picnic. I could not have done it without your help.
All who attended and brought salads, cookies, drinks, etc made for a wonderful way to spend a Saturday.
Since we have next year's date set, we should be able to get a few FReepers to come to California for a September vacation. :)

There is so much of the east that I have not seen. I look forward to visiting again someday.
We are still planning to come to DC in January.
