The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
Posted on 01/31/2004 9:52:08 AM PST by ecurbh
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

You know, I think my grandma had one of those when I was a kid. Retro is coming back, though it would not go with a thing in this house.
LOL, no, what we have now was from the unfinished furniture store. PE put finish on it, and it looks nice. Chelsea (aka beardog) tried to use it a bit for teething, but didn't get too carried away! She much prefered drywall.

> Now my dad will tell anyone that his favorite hunting buddy is my youngest daughter! I'm glad he finally got straight on that!LOL!--good work :) I take it she started with a lighter compound bow, then?

This is kinda what I'm looking for...lighter blue, the top is light blue with silver glitter, and the table is a rectangle.
You get the idea?
Isn't this just my style????

Actually, the chairs my grandma had were silver, and the table was square and a bit smaller (complete with cigarette burns from grandpa's cigarettes).

"Nothing prepares you to be a winner in life better then learning what it is like to lose. The PC folk have ruined so many kids this way... by never letting them feel what it is like to lose they completely remove the desire to win." Yeah, exactly. Without darkness, there is no light.
I honestly think the war against competition and excellence is a concious effort on the part of the Left to destroy excellence in America and perhaps Western Civilization.
Morning, everyone.

Yeah...this isn't like what I remember...but similar.
The tabletop was more sunk into the chrome trim, and I don't remember the trim being so pronounced.
But I remember my grandmother making cinnamon rolls on a tea-towel, and putting pieces of butter on the dough before rolling it up...she'd hand be a big old chunk of butter to snack on.
I must have been pretty small, because I remember sitting ON the table while she was working!

Was that really necessary?I'm catching up, but I'm assuming this post and the one below it must refer to Miniskirted Boromir :) Hey, just remember that Faramir loved Boromir, miniskirt and all! But here's a scary thought: what if Miniskirted Boromir had managed to seize the ring from Frodo--would he have became as great and terrible as Sauron, so that we would have Miniskirted Sauron? Shudder!
One Miniskirt to rule them all. . .

Bakshi Gandalf has spastic hands...keeps milking a invisible giant cow. Or that's what we decided it looked like.Hey, you're right--LOL! I had noticed the spastic hand thing before, but didn't realize an invisible giant cow was the explanation :) Hmmm--I think next time I watch Bakshi LotR, I'm gonna have to MST3K it :)

Yeah, I was just discussing this with someone the other day. Used to be, if you had challenges, you had to face up to them and conquer them. Now...if you have a reading disability, for example, they make special consessions to you, and you never focus on your capabilities. If that makes sense?Yes, perfect sense.

Elf-boy is a LOTR nut. He has seen the movies many more times than I have, except for ROTK ~that one I won't let him see yet since he is only 5.
The other day he informed me that he liked the Bakshi film (shudder) better than the Jackson film. The only reason I can find is that it is possibly because one is cartoon, and the other is not.

6 lbs is kind of little, are you sure it's legal to keep 'em that small?

you are too kind sir... osagebowman is the Master Bowman... far more learned than I... seeing as I can no longer draw draw a bow, his advice I would value more...Hi, g'nad! Did you used to shoot more? :)

I cannot remember the due date, but I do know that the baby wasn't expected until about mid-March.
Jason didn't say anything about mom and baby coming home yet, so I am guessing that they are still at the hospital today. I thought 6 lbs was small too. Especially given that Elf-boy was 10 lbs 3 oz.

I am half afraid to get rid of these books, because I know that Elf-boy will be needing some different books to read soon.Wish I still had my children's books--they all got sold at rummage sales while I was in college--sigh.

I honestly think the war against competition and excellence is a concious effort on the part of the Left to destroy excellence in America and perhaps Western Civilization.I agree. It reminds me of how when Japan conquered Okinawa they forbid weapons training in order to make the populace easier to control. The same tactic is being used against us, just more subtly.
