The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...

Posted on 01/31/2004 9:52:08 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

There are some bowhunters that I wouldn't wish to be with out in the woods. There are many bad bowhunters out there. But that's not true of any of the folk here.

There's good advice to be had here, and these are the people that are worth listening to on the matter.

I'd definitely enjoy that discussion! I try to seek out good hunters for advice. Right now I have two good archers I know from Kung Fu who I get advice from. One grew up in Tibet where he learned to shoot from horseback (like the medieval Mongols), and he also studied in Japan and knows the Zen shooting method, so he has some interesting tips. The other learned from his Dad, a WWII Navy officer who is a champion competition shooter with both bow and pistol and teaches a very fundamentals-oriented approach to intuitive shooting. I've learned some basics from them, and am always looking to pick up more tips, so if anyone's up for that type of discussion I'm game.

I just hate it that you are always getting beat up. Tragic that. Will talk to you tomorrow if I have the chance.

Night!

Yeah, I wasn't sure what happened there, LOL! I think I had just said goodnight to someone else who was going to bed, and I'm guessing maybe you thought I meant I was going to bed; and I in turn thought you were going to bed, so I said goodnight back--or something like that, LOL! Anyway, goodnight!:)

One reason I never did do much bow shooting with my dad was that he was always wanting us to use compound bows that were *way* to hard for me. I would do well with a light bow. Was a fair shot, but he'd try to get me to use that compound bow and I couldn't draw it.

My dad - back then - was one of those guys that didn't think girls oughtta be doing that stuff. So, I didn't get to shoot much of anything like my brothers did. I was the only girl. He thought I oughtta be cleanin' and cookin'.

*sigh*

Now my dad will tell anyone that his favorite hunting buddy is my youngest daughter! I'm glad he finally got straight on that!

LOL!! When did the mini-skirted Boromir make his Hobbit Hole appearance? I haven't even begun to catch up from Tuesday, and I'm not sure I'll be able to be here much tomorrow!

Will try to chip away at it tonight, and I'll be a funkling away in a few minutes, I'm sure!

*looking around*

Hmm... must be here all alone now. Did a dumb thing for just before I logged off. I was putting some old photo albums up and briefly looked through one. Had pictures from the late 70's. Lots of pictures with Grama.

I was just about asleep and suddenly into my mind crept the vivid picture of her dying. Hadn't thought about it that real in a couple of months now. I gotta stay up a while.

Are you busy reading old posts now?

If not, how was your Mardi Gras party? :-)

Decided after lying here awake for a few minutes that it would be better just to turn the light back on and do something else. But NOT look at any more photos tonight! :-)

They were good photos though. Very happy ones! :-) *tear*
