I think I may TRY the first interval of day 1 for next week...if it's too hard, I'll drop back to week 2. I'm assuming I probably WILL drop back, which is fine. Well...it's a bit disappointing, but on the other hand one week in the long run isn't that big of a deal, and I'd rather NOT do something that ends up leaving me discouraged.
Boy, am I ever behind here at the Hole...
I finished the book. Not a very happy ending, was it? *snif* Maybe the new one will add something more positive to the stories of the people from Doomsday?
Went snowshoeing today. I did OK, once I learned to walk with my feet far apart and not get them tangled up! I was using Dad's new ones (he bought another pair), which are pretty big. It was kinda fun just the same. Didn't stay out for long, though. Maybe Dad'll go out with me sometime and go for a longer walk.
Oh, and I was given a little more info on the oldest brother of that family...he served in the Marines for four years or a bit more than that and is now a programmer or something along those lines, and still lives in Vermont, though on the NY side a little over an hour away. Hm...
Not sure, but I don't think so. However, since usually when they want rides it's so they can go places with their friends, only being able to drive siblings would be useless. And the cost is too high in any case. That part of it REALLY burns me up since as I understand it, the high school pays for their students to attend, and our town has to pay the high school to send kids to the high school since they don't have one of their own...you'd think they'd be willing to pay for just the driver's ed.
But in any case she has her permit and will be getting her license probably the second week of May, so it's not that much longer. I still think the rules are stoopid.
> GMTA!! My sister and girls cousins and I used to sing it that way, too!
LOL! I've heard a lot of people sing it that way :)
BTW, that a capella concert you mention sounds like it was good! I like that kind of singing.
When I read that it made me think of a midget Ent: "I shall call it--'Mini-moot'. . ."

I hear ya on that! I've found that it's better for me to do something that's manageable enough I can do it consistently rather than going gung-ho one session but then I can't motivate myself to do that every time and I get discouraged. Right now I try to do a moderate routine three days a week, usually S-Tu-Th. This week I started off feeling blah so I slacked and got behind, but I did force myself to do it last night and felt a lot better after. It actually helped motivate me to see you two and others on the list talking about it. Is there an offical Hobbit Hole exercise support group? :)
Hmmm, that's a new word for me! :) Is funkling anything like shimmying?
Good job! :)
This is an impartial opinion, right? :)
It does help (a little). I have two online exercise partners and we check up on each other periodically to make sure we're sticking to our programs :)
BTW, 'funkle' means you have five or more posts in a row without someone else commenting. Unless you're spamming. And "Mini-moot" is the official term for a local gathering of two or more Holers.
Thanks! Being a newbie I don't know these things :) What's "spamming" mean in this context, then? Also, I was just going to ask, what's Doomsday?--I see people talking about that a lot.
Like, fer sure! :)
Heh, yes, very impartial! I took my first college classes at fifteen... about to graduate now... and most homeschoolers I grew up with did about the same. All of us are on our way to being productive members of society. Not as much of the silly teen rebelliousness stuff.
Sounds good! Wish I could've done that. I was reading at a college level before I finished grade school, and as a result middle school and high school bored me silly. Unfortunately home schooling wasn't an option for me, so I had to settle for taking accelerated classes and getting an older friend from church to check out books from his college library for me--which meant that by the time I got to college I ended up going through the same thing all over again, arghhh! I hate school; would much rather just check out books from the library and teach myself. Of course if it was up to me I'd probably pursue a degree in Middle-Earth Studies, but that's beside the point! :)
Anyway, what are you getting your degree in? Are you going to pursue the same field in grad school or switch to something else?
That's about my philosophy on life...so far I've done OK. ;-)
If I COULD study something in depth, though, it would probably be language - old languages, the ones Tolkien drew on. Can you imagine having him as a professor?
Blasphemy! I'm not listening:
Seriously, if anybody else said that I wouldn't take it seriously, but given you're a fellow LotR fanatic there must be something to it. I will have to read that. Can you describe what it's about in a nutshell without giving away the plot?
Not really! Jen and I are just teaming up and trying to get in better shape. We've been using the program here in conjunction with (for my part anyway) just trying to be more active. Jen is also doing Atkins.
