The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
Posted on 01/31/2004 9:52:08 AM PST by ecurbh
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

I'm still more sensitive to smells than I ever was when I smoked.
Started when I was 16; stopped when I was 35, on National Smokeout Day, 1993.

We just got back from the GREATEST concert! Anonymous 4 is an a cappella women's group that does mostly 'early' music; medieval and renaissance era. They did a concert over in Northhampton tonight singing music from their new CD "American Angels". I think I mentioned it the other night. They did some wonderful old hymns, psalms, and folk songs. Many of them had been favorites of 'camp meetings' in the middle and late 19th century. They did two different versions of "Amazing Grace" that I'd never heard, and a lovely version of "Wondrous Love". SSQ's favorite was "Sweet By and By". They did that one again as a second encore, and folks just started singing along with them! It was VEY moving, and I got fahklempt!
I'm so glad we got to see them cause they're breaking up as a group after this tour. I have several of their CDs and didn't think to bring one to be autographed or anything! We were going to buy one of their new CDs, but by the time I'd found the bathroom and gotten back into the Church, they were all gone! They all signed my program instead!

Does the restriction on under 18 drivers include family members? Clare is starting Drivers Ed in April or May. She can get her permit any time after Monday, cause she'll be 16, but can't get her license until she's 16 1/2, and only after she's been through the Driver's Ed Program. She'll do the same one Paul and David did; it was very good. We're planning for her to do some of the driving when we go to Pittsburgh for David's graduation and to FL this year.

OK, I'm gonna just funkle on outta here! I've been doing some baking for our Mardi Gras party tomorrow night. My King Cake came out SO nice! I'm going to do the glaze and the different color sugars tomorrow morning when I start the other cooking I need to do! I also made a sugar free Key Lime Cheesecake that's finished baking, but I'm letting it cool in the oven for another 20 mins. or so.
Right now, there 's a pile of dirty dishes callin my name! Wish they'd call somebody else! ;o) G'night!

Hmm, got a surprise in the mail yesterday. New Voter cards. It would not have surprised me except that our congressional district changed from one republican district to a different one.
Had looked at the redistricting maps available, and didn't expect any changes. We were in precinct 6. now we are in 4. Turns out there is an election in a couple of weeks. Nice to give us advance notice.
What is looks like is that our neighborhood has been chopped up. We don't even get to vote in Allen, much less vote in Collin County as far as I can tell. Gonna have to do research to find where we will be going. The new map doesn't even show precinct 4.
Something tells me that somebody doesn't want us to vote...

Hi Rose,
What do you do about a modem on an Inspiron 3800? Mine won't detect a dial tone. Should I just go get an external modem for it?

Morning all. Just letting you know that after a really tough time at work I have come home for the weekend. I am spending today and tomorrow with Schlohweiss. :-)
Everybody have a good weekend!
