The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
Posted on 01/31/2004 9:52:08 AM PST by ecurbh
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

I'm beginning to think you've found one of the ancient lost civilizations... I agree! 'Ceptin' I'm not sure about the "ancient" part...

Good mornin'. It's ridiculously cold here again...-20. Why??? What did I ever do to deserve this?

Actually, I really love classic SF. I just don't think Asimov's the best of the old guys. He usually had interesting stories, I just wasn't fond of the way he chose to tell them.
Heh... at least a quarter the books on my shelves would be considered 'classic' SF... more depending on where the end of classic SF is though I may have more of a liking for 50s and 60s SF than 40s.

I've only read one or two of Asimov's books. My problem with them is more from a philosophical / moral standpoint. As I recall, he basically put robots at least on a level with humans, which bothered me.
Gotta head to work...running late. See you there!
To: RosieCotton
I'd say only a few of his robots ever achieved anything like a human level. Most of them were definitely servitors.
I'm about to walk out the door too. But I won't see you after that... tonight, though. Remember to bug me about running!

This county didn't!
'Sides...by that logic, there are at least some southern states that should be at colder temps than we are...and we won't even discuss places like California.

Hey, I got a question for ya, seein' as you and the Mrs. seem to know about such things...I have another pot roast to make tonight or tomorrow. Will probably do it on the stove top, but I'm trying to decide what seasonings to use this time around. Any suggestions?
Last one was mostly just garlic and salt and pepper...and then mushrooms towards the end. Made nice gravy. But this time I don't plan on putting any vegetables in with it, so I can make it more highly seasoned...
