The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...

Posted on 01/31/2004 9:52:08 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

I took the last batch of cookies out just about a half an hour ago! I think we did about 8 dozen Choc. chip cookies, and two layers of cake for Clare's birthday, one yellow and one Devil's food. I didn't have enough cocoa powder to do two layers, but I think the remaining 1/2 cup will flavor a bit of frosting to go between the yellow and chocolate layers. I'll make Buttercream frosting to go on the top and sides of the cake.

Myranda and I have talked fairly often. She has been dropping into the Hobbit Hole a little bit. Her screen name is Schlohweiss so if you ever see that name you will know who you are talking with.

ROFL I have a feeling that ole GW was wantin' an autograph from the King in that picture!

I don't doubt that at all! As would anybody from my neighborhood! :-)

Bush just exudes so much genuine humanity and humility, which I think is especially important in his job. I watch his body language, and listen to his voice, and I can't detect anything fake.

I agree with that. And I think it's cause he's not fake. He hasn't changed his demeanor in the least since he first started out here in Texas. He's just a regular guy... who happens to have what it takes to be a President.

Now, now ...

Jen is just not into Asimov ... or racing.

I remember seeing Petty go fast --- and NASCAR is an acquired taste. <old lady voice>Younguns might prefer Jeff Gordon or that there Andretti boy.</old lady voice>

Classic SF is also very much an acquired --- and generationally-influenced --- taste. I see Zenna Henderson as a great SF writer; others may prefer Lois McMaster Bujold or Orson Scott Card, even though Bujold and Card see Henderson as their chief influence.

In short, our Jen is an iconoclast.

I see nothing wrong with that image.

I don't either. If I was president, and met King Richard, I'd ask for his autograph too. The man is one of a kind.

I'm thinkin' this means all will be well for the wedding and you won't have to be distracted by crime scene tape or construction.

So, is Ramius stayin' up till 3 to watch the barge come in? :-)

Not really a question, just things I'm pondering...

Pondering is good. If something doesn't set right with you checking it out to see if it's Biblically sound is a good thing.

Ok...three level tbsp of cocoa and a tbsp of shortening or oil equal one square unsweetened baking chocolate.

must remember this...

I've been ridiculously upset since they played "We are Family" during the Traditional worship.

That still amazes me everytime you mention that. Our church can do some radical stuff. But I believe that would be too much for us even.
