Thought I'd pop in for a moment. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.

Remember

As you observe the season,
With family and friend.
Please take some extra moments,
A prayer I hope you’ll send.
For God to Bless the US Troops,
Away in foreign lands.
Protect them and inspire them,
With His dear loving hands.
Merry Christmas to you all,
And Happy Holiday.
Thank our Troops and all who serve,
His light will guide our way.

How about sharing your most memorable Christmas with us?

My most memorable was the day, (three days before Christmas), that my Mom's doctor called to say her cancer was in remission. It lasted for five years more. That was a special time.

Morning, Sis! : )

Hi Pippin, Have a great Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

We'll see you next year.

Hi Amy, you guys had a great day yesterday, but I missed ya. Hope to see you around today.

Twas the night before Christmas, he lived all alone
In a one bedroom house made of plaster and stone.
I had come down the chimney with presents to give,
And to see just who in this home did live.
I looked all about, a strange sight did I see,
No tinsel, no presents, not even a tree.
No stocking by the mantle, just boots filled with sand,
on the wall hung pictures of far distant lands.
With medals and badges, awards of all kinds,
a sober thought came through my mind.

For this house was different, it was dark and dreary,
I found the house of a soldier, once I could see clearly.
The soldier lay sleeping, silent, alone,
curled upon the floor in this one bedroom home.
The face was so gentle, the room in such disorder,
Not how I pictured a United States soldier.
Was this the hero of whom I just read?
Curled up on a poncho, the floor for a bed?
I realized the families I saw on this night
owed their lives to these soldiers, who were
willing to fight.

Soon round the world the children would play,
And grownups would celebrate a bright Christmas day.
They all enjoyed freedom each month of the year,
Because of the soldiers, like the one lying here.
I couldn't help wonder how many lay alone,
on a cold Christmas Eve, in a land far from home.
The very thought brought a tear to my eye,
I dropped to my knees and started to cry.
The soldier awakened and I heard a rough voice,
"Santa, don't cry, this life is my choice;
I fight for freedom, I don't ask for more,
My life is my God, my country, my Corps."
The soldier rolled over and drifted to sleep,
I couldn't control it, I started to weep.

I kept watch for hours, so silent and still
And we both shivered from the cold night's chill.
I didn't want to leave on that cold, dark night
This Guardian of Honor so willing to fight.
The soldier rolled over, with a voice soft and pure,
whispered, "Carry on, Santa, It's Christmas Day, All is secure."
One look at my watch and I knew he was right
Merry Christmas, my friend, and to all a Good Night!

Good Morning, Meekie. Is it still morning there?

I'm still exhausted from yesterday. We left home at 8:00, was in meetings until 4:30. We got home at 5:00, grabbed a soda and left again at 5:45 for a basketball game.

HEY ...... we finally won. We were stopped in a sobriety checkpoint. I wonder how many drunken Bulldog fans they caught. Anyway, it was 10:30 before we got back home.

I think yesterday was a good day. The meetings went well and Fresno State finally found a way to win. AND, hubby hadn't even had one beer so no problem with the check point.

Hope your day goes as well as mine did yesterday.

That story is adorable, OESY. Thank you for sharing the Raccoon's most memorable Christmas with us. I hope Mama_Bear gets by to read it.

I'm going to print it for the little ones who will be here on Christmas. I'm sure they will enjoy it as much as I did.

Amen!!

We are all saying special prayers for our troops during this Christmas season.

This year we did not have a name and address of a soldier. I feel like I missed someone on my Christmas list. Fresno State announced that they would be accepting items to mail to our troops for Valentine's Day. If we do not get an address before then, we will give to our troops then.

Thank you for remembering our miitary today and everyday. If not for the brave, there would be no land of the free.

Please, Father, bless and protect them.

Thank you, CG!

OMG, Louie.

What wonderful memories to know that your Mom was given 5 more years to share with her loving family.

I know you are thankful for those additional years. Thank you.

Hi, Victoria.

I missed everyone yesterday too. We did have a productive meeting so it was worth the exhaustion. I slept until 9:00 this morning. I couldn't believe it when I looked at the clock.

Thank you for posting "A Soldier's Night Before Christmas". That is a wonderful poem.

I HEAR AMERICA SINGING

I HEAR America singing, the varied carols I hear,
Those of mechanics, each one singing his as it should be
blithe and strong,
The carpenter singing his as he measures his plank or beam,
The mason singing his as he makes ready for work, or leaves off work,
The boatman singing what belongs to him in his boat,
the deckhand singing on the steamboat deck,
The shoemaker singing as he sits on his bench,
the hatter singing as he stands,
The wood-cutter's song, the ploughboy's on his way in the morning, or at noon intermission or at sundown,
The delicious singing of the mother, or of the young wife at work, or of the girl sewing or washing,
Each singing what belongs to him or her and to none else,
The day what belongs to the day-
at night the party of young fellows, robust, friendly,
Singing with open mouths their strong melodious songs.
