.................................................................

The Poetry Branch has been in limbo since the prior hostess left FreeRepublic April 15th 2003. We've since learned that said hostess has lost her posting privilege. That being the case, and Jim Robinson having given his ok, I wanted to renew the thread.

FreeRepublic is blessed with many fine poets, and we look forward to seeing their poems posted on FR once again. There were many non-poet FReepers who visited the Poetry Branch for the camaraderie; we hope they will return.

I would like to invite everyone to visit and relax at Poetry and Potpourri. Hopefully you will renew old acquaintances for chatting, sharing jokes, telling stories, posting cartoons, etc. Everyone needs a place to escape from the everyday news, make Poetry and Potpourri that place.

Good morning, Meekie. Tell Carl to keep the refills coming today. It is 40 degrees in Fresno now.

Hey .... The temp dropped 1 degree while I was typing this.

So happy to see you again this morning.

Have a cup of coffee, listen to some music and enjoy some wonderful poems.

I will be back in a couple of hours ... I'm going back to bed!

God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son,
that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
—John 3:16

If you're feeling alone and unworthy,
And wish for a kind, loving friend,
Remember that God longs to show you
A love that never will end. —Hess

The death of Christ is the measure of God's love for you.

....but yesterday we had 5 or 6 friends wandering around on the 28th. They were probably wondering why we didn't have a Halloween thread. : )

That's funny. Must have been some kind of strange astrological alignment or something. LOL!

Sometimes it is easy to get turned around in here...even for those of us who have been here forever. I have sympathy for newbies trying to find their way around.

Speaking of which, I think scubachick may be lost. Haven't seen a post from her in a long time. Gosh, I hope she hasn't wandered into the smokey backroom.....(or maybe she has and she likes it there.) LOL!!

Yo! We are over here scubachick. ;-)

Good Morning Starshine!

I loved that song, and it was so great to sit here still in my jammies drinking coffee, orange juice, and a diet pepsi while Chad's is actually fixing me breakfast!

Ah yes, this is the life! :-)

I'll bet we have a few people here who could name this person. LOL I wonder how many would name the same one as you and I would name.

Well, not to be ugly since it is Sunday morning now, but I think there might be one or two, or SEVERAL!!! (slap my face, bad LIR)

Plus, I had pancakes and eggs in the middle of it all! Sorry, we ate it all, as usual, I didn't see your request for breakfast in time, I think you were still sleeping! :-0

Not of that one.
That's a song by the band Evanescence.

I write drivel and drek mostly, or nonsensical stuff.
Once in awhile I'll pop out with something worth reading.
But that is less often as most of my muse is, err.., the darker things in life.

Oh my Meekie, I can never drink a Tequila Sunrise again! The first time I had some, I literally had to crawl to bed! I couldn't even look at red koolaid for months! LOL

But I still love the song!

Hello everyone. Happy Sunday, all

Grandma's On The Internet

Grandma's on the internet
You won't believe the nuts she's met.
But what she'd really like to know,
Is - where are those who quilt and sew.
And do the things she likes to do?
She'd give them hints, and learn some too.

She used to be "scared" of a wee little mouse,
Would scream if one ever got in the house.
Now she hugs one night and day,
She'd rather cuddle it than stay
On the couch and watch t.v.
Her first love now is her P.C.

She'd like to see it all unfurled,
So much to learn in this new world.
She could explore it from her chair
But mostly, she plays solitaire
But that's o.k. she doesn't care
About the weather in Zaire.

Windows were glass she'd wash and look through,
Now they are programs to help us all view.
The earth and the sea and the beautiful sky,
A virus was something from which you could die.
Now it's a nuisance that could spoil your day,
But it can be fixed and sent on its way.

She served her time with diapers and dishes.
Now she can do whatever she wishes.
And if that means staying up half the night,
To point arrows at icons-that's really alright.

A bit was something you had little of,
Now it takes eight bytes to make the above.
It's all so confusing, it makes her head ache.
A byte was something you take from a cake.

She's learning more about it now,
Her four year old grandchild showed her how.
