.................................................................
The Poetry Branch has been in limbo since the prior hostess left FreeRepublic April 15th 2003. We've since learned that said hostess has lost her posting privilege. That being the case, and Jim Robinson having given his ok, I wanted to renew the thread.
FreeRepublic is blessed with many fine poets, and we look forward to seeing their poems posted on FR once again. There were many non-poet FReepers who visited the Poetry Branch for the camaraderie; we hope they will return.
I would like to invite everyone to visit and relax at Poetry and Potpourri. Hopefully you will renew old acquaintances for chatting, sharing jokes, telling stories, posting cartoons, etc. Everyone needs a place to escape from the everyday news, make Poetry and Potpourri that place.

Bald Headed Men
Some men have a full head of hair;
With others there is a lack.
Those with abundance aren't always fair
And throw the bald ones a lot of flack,
Like---"an empty shack needs no roof,"
Or---"granite grows no grass".
From such ones I stay aloof
For it sounds like belching gas.
To the first I say, "no roof lets in light,
Therefore, I'm not in the dark.
To understand is pure delight."
That stops that vile remark.
To the next remark I simply say,
"You could have let that statement pass.
As well as granite, a brain is gray,
And a busy street grows no grass."
So, listen, all you bald headed men,
Don't be ashamed of your dome.
Don't accept a blow to your chin
Just because you need no comb.
'Cause next I say what the smart aleck dreads
And all his remarks are smothered,
"God only made a few perfect heads
And those are the ones He uncovered."

LOL! Love your postcard. There are always witches around us. There is one nasty, ugly one from the North at LP, and another one from the South still among us. Yikes, but the way to kill those witches is by totally ignoring them. Their nastiness, gossip, mass-emails, and obsessions just melt away by our lack of interest and complete indifference.

I know some Hartsells in Dallas. Do you know them? They go to church in the Plano area I think. I was at TWU in 88 and 89. It's really neat to meet you. It's a small world isn't it? I'm trying to think whom I would have known while you were there. Do you know a Joel Ward? Gosh, my mind is drawing a blank. How about Monica Feagan?

Sure is quiet in here. I'll liven things up with this belated Halloween-type joke my brother just sent me from Kalifornee ... Late one dark and rainy night a man was walking home alone when he hears behind him a.......
BUMP...
BUMP...
BUMP...
Walking faster he looks back, and makes out the image of an upright coffin banging its way down the middle of the street towards him
BUMP...
BUMP...
BUMP...
Terrified, the man begins to run towards his home, the coffin bouncing quickly behind him ...
faster...
faster...
BUMP...
BUMP....
BUMP.
He runs up to his door, fumbles with his keys, opens the door, rushes in, slams and locks the door behind him. However, the coffin crashes through his door, with the lid of the coffin clapping ...
clappity-BUMP...
clappity-BUMP...
clappity-BUMP...
clappity-BUMP...
on the heels of the terrified man....
Rushing upstairs to the bathroom, the man locks himself in. His heart is pounding; his head is reeling; his breath is coming in sobbing gasps. .
With a loud CRASH the coffin starts breaking down the door. Bumping and clapping towards him. The man screams and reaches for smething heavy, anything ... his hand comes to rest on a large bottle of ROBITUSSIN .
Desperate, he throws the Robitussin as hard as he can at the apparition,
and... THE COFFIN STOPS!!!!!
i know, i know ... groan.

Howdy ! The little woman and me just got back from Wally World (Wal-Mart). She wanted to get some bread and lettuce and I needed some tea and some OTC stuff for my arthritis in my ankle. The Wal-Mart Super Center is practically just around the corner. Just a half-mile and we don't have to cross anything but our local residential streets to get to it. It's SOOOooo corRvenient to get to it, and SOOOooo inexpensive too. It's HUGE ! ...

You have a wallyworld super center? We don't, at least not that I am aware of. Are the grocery prices really as good as I hear? I do know that SamsClub beats out Costco in prices.

.Oh sure, make the rest of us look bad!
Seriously, I am impressed. All I managed to get done today is to cut up left over roast beef for sandwiches! :-) ( I did pretend to be exhausted from the exercise!)

Wal-Mart super centers have been in the news lately. I heard California, or the San Fransico area doesn't want them because they can't collect taxes on food. Something like that.
Sorry to make you look bad. :) We've been under the weather all week so we had a lot to catch up on. You know how the house looks when mom gets sick??? It looked like that! Yikes!
I love roast beef sandwiches. We're having pork roast and sauerkraut tomorrow.

Hi Spooky, I've been in and out, doing things around my place, and buying a few things I needed. It's hard for me to just sit for a few hours during the weekends, I don't know why, LOL. However, I think I will just sit for awhile right now, LOL.
Hey, how about a nice song
