.................................................................

The Poetry Branch has been in limbo since the prior hostess left FreeRepublic April 15th 2003. We've since learned that said hostess has lost her posting privilege. That being the case, and Jim Robinson having given his ok, I wanted to renew the thread.

FreeRepublic is blessed with many fine poets, and we look forward to seeing their poems posted on FR once again. There were many non-poet FReepers who visited the Poetry Branch for the camaraderie; we hope they will return.

I would like to invite everyone to visit and relax at Poetry and Potpourri. Hopefully you will renew old acquaintances for chatting, sharing jokes, telling stories, posting cartoons, etc. Everyone needs a place to escape from the everyday news, make Poetry and Potpourri that place.

Sheesh! Somehow I got confused and managed to post this on the poetry thread from several days ago. (Seems to happen a lot lately..especially when I am in a hurry). I don't know how I ended up there. LOL!

Anyway, I will post it again here where I intended to post it....sorry for the double ping. :-(

Hello everyone. I don't have time right now to read the entire thread, but wanted to let my poetry and potpourri friends know that I am back from my week at the ranch. I sure missed you all, and I sure am far behind! I don't know that I will ever catch up.

I will try to get back here and read some of the poetry. 'Til then, here are some flowers for your lovely thread, Amy.

Evening everyone!

Bad Day

My gosh, I can't believe it
I had a real bad day
everything I did went wrong
and nothing went my way

I was caught in a bad storm
got water all over the floor
and I had to wipe it up
it was really quite a chore.

Then I snagged my nylons
on that darn classroom chair
and wouldn't you just know it
they were a brand new pair.

I was finishing writing some letters
so I could get them in the mail
I was so busy looking at them
I stepped into a garbage pail.

As I walked into the office
some books fell on my head
It gave me such a headache
they must be made of lead.

Then I climbed up a ladder
and as it would be my luck
The ladder slipped from under me
then I landed on my butt.

Hanging something on the bulletin board
when the thing fell of the wall
Now this was really too much
I headed to the washroom, to bawl.

I walked out of the ladies room
with toilet paper stuck to my shoe
everyone started laughing so
I didn't know what to do.

It's been a very long day
the clock is ticking so slow
With what this day had to offer
I sure am feeling low.

Great post Victoria. Sounds just like MY day!

Know what cheered me up? The Solar Storm is reflecting an orange glow on the moon. But you knew I was odd anyway.

Here are some ponderings for the day:

Did you know that NASA cannot duplicate the flight pattern of a dragon fly? Did you know that the painted lady butterfly's life span is two weeks - and that they are never babies? They go right from the cocoon to an adult butterfly? Did you know the more pollution in the air the more brilliant and bold the sunsets? Did you know that baby zebras recognize their mommies by the positioning of their stripes - and the stripe patterns are never duplicated!

Isn't it amazing that alligators lay their eggs at different
levels in the ground. And this action determines the gender of the newborn alligator? Isn't it amazing that it is impossible to be mad and laugh at the same time? Isn't it amazing that you can cause a grown man or woman with a tough exterior to melt like butter when you say, "I love you." Isn't it amazing that young children who just meet each other can play like they are lifelong friends within a few seconds?

These facts may seem insignificant. However, the habit of
thinking on such things can do amazing things for you (well, me anyway). It can cause one to wake up and notice the abundance of wisdom, love, and miracles that are found in every day life!

Odd things like this cheer me up.

Howdy, howdy ! Everything was pretty good today, considering that my Comcast ISP kept dying about hourly. I called them and they are sending out a Technician tomorrow morning. I think I'll be getting another modem compliments of Comcast the way the guy talked on the phone today. We'll see.

Anyway, I'm about reddy to lay my head down for the evening. G'night, yall !

There was a young girl from Oliver,
And all the men did follow her,
Until a guy came along,
And played her his song,
And all the rest quit call'n her.

Hate to use the P&P thread for this but it's been eating at me ever since I first heard of the story about that miniseries about the Reagans. It really urks me as my father also suffers in the same way Reagan is and believe me if anyone ever does this to him they'd better pray I don't ever catch up with them!

Another thought from Pippin

Oct. 30, 2003

Okay, here’s the deal!

As much as I hate it, I’d rather see the liberals bashing President Bush.

Why?

Because he at least can defend himself.

Now on the other hand, As someone who has a parent in the same situation as former President Reagan, I find what CBS and the liberals are doing to him appalling and disgraceful!

To put such filth on as this “so called” tell all movies or miniseries is so insensitive and ruthless it makes me sick!

Ronald Reagan is not in a position where he can defend himself, nor can he tell these people the truth because of his debilitating condition.

It makes me so mad for a group of people who claim to have respect and consideration for the disabled to behave in such an evil manner.

They call themselves the party of the oppressed?

They are so phony!

I don’t plan to watch that abomination or support the sponsors of this movie. It’s ridiculous!

I urge all of you to boycott CBS if they air this offensive piece of trash!

This was supposed to be a thread but I'm so upset by this that any more I say about this would be deleted by the Admin Moderator for really filthy language.
