.................................................................

The Poetry Branch has been in limbo since the prior hostess left FreeRepublic April 15th 2003. We've since learned that said hostess has lost her posting privilege. That being the case, and Jim Robinson having given his ok, I wanted to renew the thread.

FreeRepublic is blessed with many fine poets, and we look forward to seeing their poems posted on FR once again. There were many non-poet FReepers who visited the Poetry Branch for the camaraderie; we hope they will return.

I would like to invite everyone to visit and relax at Poetry and Potpourri. Hopefully you will renew old acquaintances for chatting, sharing jokes, telling stories, posting cartoons, etc. Everyone needs a place to escape from the everyday news, make Poetry and Potpourri that place.

At least the Net Nanny didn't have to yank you out of here by your ear. LOL
Thanks, Dark.

Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, and Al Gore were in an airplane that crashed. They're up in heaven, and God's sitting on the great white throne. God addresses Al first.

"Al, what do you believe in?" Al replies, "Well, I believe I won that election, but that it was your will that I did not serve. And I've come to understand that now." God thinks for a second and says "Okay, very good. Come and sit at my left."

God then addresses Bill. "Bill, what do you believe in?" Bill replies, "I believe in forgiveness. I've sinned, but I've never held a grudge against my fellow man, and I hope no grudges are held against me." God thinks for a second and says "You are forgiven, my son. Come and sit at my right."

God then address Hillary. "Hillary, what do you believe in?"

"I believe you're in my chair."

Is anyone going to post "The Raven" tomorrow?

Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary

Hey, SpookBrat! Just tryin' to start a little trouble. Unfortunately, this thread has a sense of humor. So, I can't seem to stir things up here. Destructor must find others to pick on.

You don't have to apologize for being an Aggie. Somebody's gotta do it. Besides, that rivalry has given me many fond memories. My parents are both Aggies, and my brother's a "Red Raider." Needless to say I was a BIG disappointment to them!

I apologize for being misleading. I didn't graduate from A & M. I got a full scholarship to TWU and had to go where the education was free. Didn't graduate from there either. BUT, if I had gone to UT, it wouldn't have been good. My sister went to SWT. Is it still South West Texas or did they change the name?

How did you attend UT and depart unscathed. My cousin arrived as a conservative and left a fruit cake.

Southwest Texas did change it's name, but I don't recall the new name off hand.

At the time that I attended the University of Texas at Austin I already had some life experiences under my belt. I went in knowing what U.T. was all about, and I went in knowing that many of the Professors were avowed Communists. I knew from some of my previous experiences that these people were basically full of shit, so they were unable to influence me. I stood up to some of my professors, and paid the price for it .

In one case, I had a philosophy professor that used to read quotes from articles in "Da Communard" in class. This professor passed out Xerox copies of one article and had the class write a paper on the article. I was kind of at a loss as to how this exercise fit into to the outline for the course, but I did as I was instructed by the professor. I shot down the points of propaganda in the article, and concluded by adding that "people that would read and believe this garbage were the very people that Lenin was referring to when he coined the term "useful idiots." I ended up getting a B in the course. I aced all of the tests, but got down graded on all of the other papers that I wrote (that coincidentally did follow the course outline).

That took a lot of courage and I'm proud of you for taking a stand. That must have been a difficult situation for you. I would have been seething in class with smoke coming out of my ears. I didn't face that at TWU, but I'm sure they were there. Luckily, I didn't sign up for their classes and they all adhered to the course outline. I had a conservative American History teacher who didn't make me feel guilty for being white. It was a welcomed surprise of which I was grateful.

I don't know why, but the arrogance and disdainfully haughty attitude of a liberal always shocks me. I cannot imagine walking into a class and forcing my beliefs on others, especially if I had power and influence such as this teacher. If it was in the course outline, sure. I guess I'm just a stick to the subject at hand kind of person who obeys the rules of polite society with discretion. Liberals never miss an opportunity to vomit communisim or socialism all over anyone who will listen. Pathetic because they so rudely assume everyone is interested in their superior knowledge and wisdom.

"Da Communard"??? The nerve!! What a loser!

You must have had good parents who planted seeds of conservative wisdom in you.
